Review Centre: 1920s, 30s & 40s Style Bands

"I asked The River Jazz Quartet to play at my mother's funeral and wake: her will specified "New Orleans music to cheer the attenders" and The River Jazz Quartet filled the role perfectly. At the wake they changed to the sort of 1930's and 40's swing that Mother grew up with, and also played one of Jan's own compositions from the 1970's as a special treat. The matter was dealt with professionally, with the band giving good advice in advance and turning up in good time on the day. Highly recommended."

"Thank you all so much for your amazing performance on Saturday evening, which was everything I could have hoped for! Your music was brilliant, got everyone up dancing and I can’t tell you how many people told me afterwards 'how brilliant the 1920s band were’. As soon as you played your first song I knew we’d struck gold! It couldn’t have been more perfect given the whole Gatsby theme and everyone so dressed up, so thank you all so much. You may be interested to know that we raised an astonishing £7,000 on the night! With just 96 people in the room…amazing! Thanks again Matthew and I'll not hesitate to recommend you if anyone should ask me for a fabulous 20’s Jazz Band!"

"[Gaylene] Parish's voice was warm and expressive throughout, and Williams proved to be the ideal accompanist with his light, melodic touch and studied rhythmic flow. John Barham played strong, firm bass lines, and the three sounds - piano, voice and bass - blended together successfully."

"Dear Francis and Janet – I just wanted to write and thank you both for such a lovely, friendly and ebullient performance on Sunday – it was just as I hoped – your cheerfulness and choice of material was spot on and I had lots of remarks afterwards as to how much everyone enjoyed themselves. "Last evening I had perhaps the most enjoyable hour I have spent for many months - if not years (sad person! ) - listening to and enjoying the singing of Rachel. The range, intonation, power and versatility of her voice are only matched by the variety of her songs - all superb and much-loved songs from many contrasting genre. I don't know what she was paid for last night, but it's frankly irrelevant, as she is priceless. "

"The Spinettes were booked by the residents at Harleston House for a musical event that they had planned for Dementia Awareness Week. The girls were very warm and friendly with their performance but remained professional performers throughout. The music and the selection of songs for our client group was spot on, its not easy to keep people with Dementia engaged but they managed very well. It was lovely that when they finished their show the girls took the time in going round chatting to the residents and their relatives this was a lovely thing to do. The residents are still talking about it and they all said what a lovely time they had together. I have been requested to book them again and I have no problem with recommending this group and their manager for any event that requires this style of entertainment."

"These guys were absolutely amazing. We had them at our wedding in the afternoon, they made our wedding even more special and set the turn to be a very classy garden party. They were lovely and played great tunes and really made our day and our wedding would reccomwnd and then recommend again. Even played Disney."
