"Small Days guitarist Dave Merrick was the master of ceremonies, with vocalist Natalie Davies and sax player Brendan Whitmore joining him for the live songs. Dave unfolded the story at a well-judged pace, with records of Bessie Smith’s evocative voice even drawing applause from the attentive audience whenever they were included. The live contribution was important, too, and Natalie wisely steered away from imitating Bessie’s full-throated contralto to emphasis the singer’s lyrics with an upbeat swing on numbers like Need A Little Sugar and Send Me To The Electric Chair. Brendan Whitmore switched between soprano and tenor sax, the former particularly eloquent on Need A Little Sugar, the latter coming to the fore on T’Aint Nobody’s Business If I Do. All in all it was a satisfying journey through blues history with one of the great women who made the music what it became. "I feel compelled to write a quick note following your amazing work on Saturday. I’ve loved the full gamut of music you guys play since I was introduced to it in my early 20s. That music has become hugely important to me ever since. You played so beautifully, set the tone wonderfully and I know worked with the coordinator to play outside during the reception. "Tony led numerous wonderful jazz sessions at Roz Ana for over a year. He is always professional and has some amazingly talented musicians that play with him to create wonderful music. His talent is very clear and he has the ability to bring together pieces with his co-musicians in a very engaging way that is always enjoyable. "

"I booked the quartet to play at my nan's 80th birthday party and they were perfect! They were incredibly communicative and accommodating in the planning of the event, arrived promptly and waited patiently whilst we herded the guests. The repertoire was exactly what we were looking for - jazz and swing classics that my nan and our family enjoyed dancing to. A most excellent time was had by all! The standard of musicianship was of an excellent quality - the demo clips on the site are truly representative of the performance you can expect. Five stars all round "
