Enjoy the beauty of the harp at your event, with over 30 years' experience and a wide range of repertoire from an award-winning, Sheffield-based harpist.
At ease playing a variety of genres, including classical, contemporary, folk/traditional or your favourite film or videograme soundtrack, I will collaborate with you on the perfect mood for your day. If you have a music request that would make your event extra special, let me know when booking and we can explore the possibilities.
Although based in Sheffield, in South Yorkshire, I regularly play across the North, the Midlands and East Anglia, covering Yorkshire, Derbyshire, the Peak District, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and more.
I love sharing music with you and your guests - playing favourites, learning new requests and finding the flow and movement in music. I've performed solo and with ensembles across the UK and Europe, and am sought after by regional orchestras, choirs, musicals, shows, and as a studio session musician.
There is also the option to book me to play as a duo with cello, clarinet or saxophone, where the golden tones of the harp meld with the warmth of the low strings or woodwind to create an extra sparkle for your event. Tell me in your first contact if this is something you might be interested in!
Making music from four years old, I was attracted to the golden sound of the harp at seven. As a child I performed with the family band, and expanded to other events through my teens, including for an Education Secretary at a political party conference, weddings, venue openings and orchestral performances by the time I was 18. I won the Julian Payne Recital prices for best performance in my honours undergraduate music degree and was awarded a distinction in my Music Performance Masters, both at the University of Sheffield.
I am a member of the Independent Society of Musicians and have full Public Liability insurance.

I will need information about parking/loading. If there is not available parking included near to the venue, I may need to add ona parking charges. Information about the building access would be really helpful - while a few steps can be feasible, I will not be able to access buildings that require me to move the harp up or down flights of stairs and that do not have appropriate lifts.
I enjoy them all as I love being able to add in something extra. Every human deserves celebration in their lives!
Some personal standouts include:
- A wedding at a venue next to the beach in Cyprus with the celtic harp - a gorgeous atmosphere and setting for a lovely couple.
- The Crucible - "The Monster in the Maze" community opera to celebrate Music in the Round's 40th Anniversary year was amazing to bring community members of all ages to perform with professional musicians and give a performance worthy of excellent reviews from national critics - the energy was amazing and I love engaging with the young generation of upcoming creatives.
- Playing as a surprise for an 80th birthday in Sheffield for a Welsh lady, who sang along with some of the Welsh songs I chose especially for her.
- Saying a personal goodbye to my next-door neighbour by playing for his funeral - he loved to hear me play and encouraged me to practice extra just so he could listen. Thanks Eric.
It would be too hard to choose any one artist or song as I love music across so many genres and cultures.
I grew up in a musical family and my youngest experiences of music were in the local folk scene, joining my dad in playing early and medieval music, and with my grandpa playing classical music. From there, I've only added to the list - my teen years influenced by 90s and early 00's pop, indie, and metal, but I also loved listening back to music from the 60's, 70's and 80's - soul, jazz, funk and rock. I've got a massive fondness for swing. My listening now takes me around the globe, incorporating traditions from across the world and videogame soundtracks are providing a whole new area of great music, to complement film and other soundtracks.
The main thing that draws me to music that is has to flows and create a sense of movement- slow and gentle, fast fun, great rhythms, flowing free - all kinds of movement!
I started performing as a child with my family band, playing folk and early music and performed with ensembles in my local music service, getting to play at the Southbank Centre and Royal Albert Hall. At 17, a local orchestra needed a harpist to perform The Planets and booked me to play. My first wedding booking was at 18 at Whitley Hall.
Playing for events and weddings was my 'part-time job' while I was a university music student. Being in Sheffield, it was so close to the Peak District and I loved playing in such beautiful venues. It turns out that my husband first saw me, years before we properly met, playing for the re-opening event of the pub that he worked in at the time!
Since graduating, I have continued to love making events special. I have played with all of the orchestras in Sheffield and continue to be rebooked regularly, as well as by orchestras in the surrounding areas. I've played in musicals, operas, children's concerts, venue openings and conferences.
I love playing at events that are important to people and bringing something special to that day - playing a couple's special song for them at their wedding, or playing music at a birthday party that comes from their roots - e.g. Welsh traditional music or Latin American. Being able to bring beautiful music and extra meaning is such a delight!
I normally aim to arrive at least an hour before I am due to start playing. Timings can be agreed at the point of booking, but I know that events planning can create some timing challenges. Let me know in advance if something needs changing and I will see what I can do.
I mainly play indoors and am happy to find an appropriate space to set up in most venues, bringing all the equipment I need for an acoustic, indoor performance.
If there is a possibility that you might want an outdoor performance, please discuss this with me, as we may need to discuss whether amplification might be needed, in which case power access will be required. The harp will need to be appropriately protected from sun and rain, on a firm, flat and clean and dry surface.
You can choose up to 3 specific songs to be played at particular moments. I have a large repertoire list, which includes many frequent requests but if something you want is not on my list, then let me know and I can generally include new requests.
For background playlists, you can select specific songs for me to play and those choices will help me to theme the rest to fit your style, or we can have a chat about your particular taste and you can leave the rest up to me.
Previous customers thank me for my beautiful playing and tell me that their guests thought it was incredible. I have been told that I have made a dream a reality.
