About / Biography

I'm Carl Redman, a solo acoustic singer and guitarist performing a mix of Britpop, indie anthems and crowd-pleasing classics.

With over 20 years of experience playing in bands and performing live, I bring that experience to my solo acoustic sets, putting my own stripped-back spin on some of the best-loved songs from the 90s, 2000s and beyond.

My setlist includes songs from Oasis, Blur, Pulp, The Verve, Ocean Colour Scene, Stereophonics, The Killers, Kasabian, James, Shed Seven and many more.

Whether it's a lively pub evening, a private party, a wedding reception or a laid-back afternoon event, I can tailor my performance to suit the occasion. From relaxed acoustic favourites to big singalong anthems, the aim is always to create a great atmosphere.

I'm based in Cambridgeshire and available for bookings locally and further afield.

I provide my own professional sound equipment and am happy to discuss your requirements to help make your event a success.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Technical Requirements

I provide my own professional Bose PA system, microphone, guitar and all necessary audio equipment.

Access to a standard mains power socket is preferred but not essential, as my PA system can operate on battery power.

A suitable, reasonably level performance space.

For outdoor performances, adequate shelter from rain and adverse weather.

Reasonable access for unloading and setting up equipment.

No additional sound equipment is required from the venue.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes. I provide all my own professional sound equipment, including PA system and microphones, along with basic stage lighting. I am fully self-contained, so the venue does not need to provide any additional sound or lighting equipment.

What information do you require about a venue?

I'd appreciate details of the venue's location, parking arrangements and access for unloading equipment. Please also let me know the available performance space, timings, expected audience size and whether there are any sound restrictions or noise limiters.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I am happy to play music before gig, between sets and whilst packing away. I have a playlist that suits the set but am happy to let the client choose/provide a playlist.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

One of the highlights of my musical career was playing in a previous band supporting Tom Hingley from Inspiral Carpets at Bedford Esquires. It was a fantastic experience and a memorable gig at a great live music venue.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Probably Oasis as they are the band that inspired me to pick up a guitar 30 years ago. They are still one of my favourite bands and Slide away is there standout track for me. The greatest song of all time is a difficult question and can depend on what mood I'm in but I always thought Paranoid Android to be a masterpiece.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been playing guitar and performing in bands for around 20 years, playing a mixture of original music and covers. Over the years I've played a variety of venues and events, including supporting Tom Hingley from Inspiral Carpets at Bedford Esquires.

I've recently returned to regular live performing as a solo acoustic artist, bringing together my love of Britpop and indie music with a set full of familiar songs and singalong favourites.

I enjoy the connection with an audience and creating a great atmosphere, whether it's a relaxed afternoon session or a lively evening in a pub or at a private event.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I enjoy playing all types of events, from relaxed afternoon sessions and garden parties to lively pub evenings and private celebrations. I particularly enjoy gigs where the audience gets involved, singing along to familiar Britpop and indie favourites. Ultimately, I love creating a great atmosphere and making sure everyone has a good time.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I usually arrive around 45–60 minutes before the agreed performance start time to allow enough time to unload, set up and soundcheck.

Performances are typically 2 x 45-minute sets or 1 x 90-minute set, although I'm happy to discuss different arrangements depending on the event.

After the performance, pack-down usually takes around 20–30 minutes. I always aim to be fully set up and ready to go before guests arrive or the entertainment is due to start.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I'm happy to perform outdoors, weather permitting. I have battery-powered sound equipment, so access to mains electricity isn't essential. I simply require a suitable sheltered area to protect myself and my equipment from rain and the elements. Garden parties and outdoor celebrations are very welcome!

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I'm always happy to hear song requests and discuss particular songs or artists in advance. I have an extensive repertoire of Britpop, indie and classic favourites, and can tailor my setlist to suit the event and the audience. While I can't guarantee every request, I always try to accommodate special requests where possible. The aim is to give everyone a great night of music!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

My performances are all about creating a relaxed, friendly atmosphere with great songs that people know and love. I'm often told that my song choices get people singing along, bring back great memories and create a really enjoyable atmosphere. I aim to make every performance feel personal, engaging and full of energy, whether it's an intimate garden party or a lively pub evening.
