Chris is an established solo Celtic harpist. He has been a professional musician for 38 years, and has recorded 22 albums, mostly in collaboration with other artists.
He is a multi-instrumentalist, with the harp featuring as his principal instrument. On harp he specialises particularly in traditional Celtic music including much Irish, Welsh, and Scottish material, plus some Breton, Manx and Cornish music. He also has a considerable repertoire of early/medieval/renaissance music, and plays some original material and live improvised music.
His other main instruments include fiddle, Irish bouzouki, electric mandolin, whistle, and saxophone.
Chris has performed all over the UK & beyond, and has played in widely varied venues including arts centres, concert halls, theatres, arts festivals, folk festivals, castles, hotels, museums, folk clubs, cruise ships, restaurants, on a number of TV and radio programmes, at open air concerts, green fairs, and 2 Glastonbury festivals. He has also played at an enormous number of private events such as weddings, garden parties, banquets and corporate events.
He was the official harpist at Caernarfon Castle in North Wales for 9 years, performing there several times per week during the summer months, and also played many live events at other castles throughout Wales, for CADW.

I need an armless chair of normal height, and a mains power point for my amplification, if the venue requires it.
I provide a small but high quality 100Watt amplifier for the harp.
I need the exact location of the venue.
No, I do not provide a Spotify or DJ service.
Yes, I can perform completely acoustically, if the venue is reasonably small with good acoustics, and minimal background noise. However, in most modern settings it is advisable to use a little amplification.
Yes, I normally use a small but high quality 100Watt amplifier for the harp.
I can also provide a battery powered 20 W amplifier for situations without mains electricity.
I played privately for H.M. Queen Elizabeth II at her first visit to Conwy castle.
I was influenced early in my career by the playing of Alan Stivell, Alison Kinnaird, Robin Williamson, Maire NI Chathasaigh.
I have been a working musician for most of my life.
These days I enjoy relaxed background type gigs as much as recitals.
I like to arrive about 1 hour before the start of performing, in order to let the harp settle into the environment, but I can tune up and set up in approx. 10 minutes.
I'm happy to perform outside, providing the temperature is a minimum of 17 degrees C, and I require shelter from the elements of rain, wind and direct sunlight on the harp.
I can learn one or two specific requests for events such as a wedding, but normally I play from my own repertoire.
My music has been described as atmospheric, magical and captivating.
