About / Biography

From chilled background music at a sophisticated drinks reception - to high energy, dance floor fillers at a rockin' party - we have you covered!

Eccentric Pony are a group of pro musicians with a wealth of experience and talent who will tailor their performance perfectly to your event.
We spend the winter touring the après ski circuit in the alps, playing to all kinds of audiences every day of the week. Come Spring time we return to the UK, to play for all of you.

We offer an acoustic duo (guitar, percussion and vocal harmonies),
an acoustic trio (adding bass and an extra vocal harmony),
or a full electric band (for when things need to step up a gear).

We have a huge repertoire for you to choose from - you can dictate the entire set, pick a few songs you'd like to hear, or just leave it all to us - we'll read the crowd and ensure the music is perfect for your event.

Eccentric Pony are based in the North West and are available nationwide and internationally

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a weather proof performance area with a level floor of at least 4.5x3m with power within 10m

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig

What information do you require about a venue?

We'll liaise directly with the venue to ease your burden and ensure everything runs smoothly!

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

All our quotes include a manned DJ service whenever we aren't performing, so you'll have music for the entire night!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We've performed all over Europe to actors, celebrities and musicians, but we bring the same level of enthusiasm to every single show. Our best gig is always the next one!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Too many to mention.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We're all seasoned professions having played in many bands over the years. Eccentric Pony were established in 2010 and since then have played well over a thousand shows at all kinds of events across the UK and beyond.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing and relish any opportunity. Weddings are certainly very special though as there's always a fantastic atmosphere.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes, the front man is always the same. We strive to make sure the line-up you see is what you get on the night. We do have pre-auditioned 'dep' musicians available in case a band member falls ill or is unavailable. As a professional band, our reputation means everything so you can be confident that all of our players are of a very high level.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our line-ups are as follows:

• Solo acoustic (guitar, kick drum, vocals and party vibes),
• Acoustic duo (guitar, percussion and vocal harmonies),
• Electric/Acoustic trio (adding bass and an extra vocal harmony),
• Full electric band (for when things need to step up a gear).

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run-up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! A DJ Service is included free of charge for every booking.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually arrive 2 hours before performance time. If turn-around is tight we can set up in 1 hour. A comfortable set-up for the full band would be no less than 4m wide and 3m deep. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Yes! Feel free to pick songs from our full repertoire list that is available on request. You can pick as many or as few songs as you like. Or none at all. We are used to reading the crowd and gauging the right songs to play to keep everyone happy. Picking a handful of songs is usually a good idea so we know the kind of thing you’re expecting.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Of course! The band is self-sufficient, so we supply everything needed for our performance including PA and lighting rig. We do require a clean power supply and some refreshments/meals for the band and crew. All our equipment is PAT tested annually and we always have a valid PLI certificate.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Of course! If you have any special requests for wedding songs we will do our best to accommodate. However, many couples choose to have a recorded version of their first dance (especially if they’ve been practising their dance routine!)

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

All bookings include a suitable PA system, lighting rig and recorded music between live sets.

Performance times can be tailored to your event, and set-up times may vary depending on your choices
A typical event may consist of 3 x 40 minute sets or 2 x 60 minute sets

A full band will take a minimum of 90 minutes to set up. 45 minutes for a duo

Eccentric Pony offer a bespoke service, so please get in touch so we can help plan your perfect event!

Are you happy to perform outside?

To perform outside we require a weatherproof area and power within 10m.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

You can choose the setlist from our extensive repertoire. You're welcome to pick songs for the whole evening if you wish, or just pick a handful and leave the rest to us.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Our clients love our high energy performances, brilliant musicianship and audience interaction. We also get lots of compliments on our communication from the first enquiry right up until after the end.
