G Celtic Folk Rock Band originally formed in 1989 & disbanded in 1997. The current line up was reformed in 2019 by original fiddler & frontman Chris. The band plays folk rock predominantly in Celtic style with some traditional songs & tunes from Ireland & Scotland + a few self-composed & other folk songs. We have been likened to Horslips, Thin Lizzy, Moving Heart & more.
Lineup:
Chris - vocals, fiddle.
Geoff - electric guitars, keyboards & programming.
Sam - bass & backing vocals.
Jim on drums, sampled percussion & backing vocals.
Based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire

We do not in general do covers, so the material is essentially original albeit many songs are traditional with our unique arrangement.
Typical examples being: Down to Old Maui, Ordinary Man, Back Home in Derry, Maid of Coolmore. Plus numerous jigs, reels etc such as Maid Behind the Bar, Sligo Maid etc
Require mains power. WE do have a professional level PA but often use hired in or house systems
We do have a lighting rig, but use house systems when available

No. We can play introductory background music only which is in the genre of our style of music

I personally have been a musician for over 40 yrs, played in many bands including the legendary Mike Harding band.
Festival. We are performing at the Wirral Viking festival 2026 amongst others.
Arrival: at least 1 hour, preferably 90 minutes before the performance
Set up / pack down: about an hour comfortably at most to set up, including a sound check & about 20 mins to take down. If we are using our regular soundman/PA settings are saved in a digital desk.
Only of we have suitable cover for band/PA/equipment in case of bad weather. So yes if the weather is dry & fine ie summer time.
We dont do covers, all our songs/tunes are original/traditional from Ireland/Scotland played in a folk rock style
Amazing.
Since becoming winners of the Introducing stage at the Great British Folk festival in Jan 2023 we are now mainly playing in small theatres, arts centres & at folk & music festivals. In 2025 we played at the Costa fest Ibiza, Ely Folk fest, Cropredy Fringe stage & many more. Oct 2025 we are sharing a bill with the Levellers for a gig in Whitby
