Yes we are completely self contained bringing amplification.

Any directions we might need in addition to an address (for google maps) are welcome. A load in location (eg front door, garden gate to the left) is helpful and name of the contact person would ideal. Parking instructions are really helpful - especially if we need to pay for parking in which case we appreciate knowing in advance. We look forward to meeting you! If you would like us to perform outside then please do let us know in advance so that we can be prepared.

Yes, we're happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We're happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client give us a playlist. If the client wants us to keep the music going for a significant time after we have finished playing and packing up then we may charge an additional fee but we would not do this without consulting the contact person first - we want to make sure that the event goes exactly to plan and will be as flexible as we can in accommodating requests.

We’re lucky to have played some wonderful venues, as we both sing in other projects too. Between us, Rosanna and Beth have performed at Shakespeare’s Globe, Upstairs at Ronnie Scott’s, Union Chapel, The Vortex and The Green Note in London, Hauser & Wirth, Cheese and Grain in Frome, Wiltshire Music Centre, Komedia in Brighton, Cardiff Glee Club, The Lighthouse in Poole and the Acorn Theatre in Penzance, plus festivals including Green Man, Purbeck Valley Folk Festival, Fanny’s Meadow and Sidmouth Folk Week. As well as full evening sets, we play background music for drinks receptions, dinners, hotels and restaurants. The best gigs are the ones where the whole room ends up singing along, and that’s what we love to bring to a wedding or party.

Rosanna loves folk and blues and adores Dolly Parton, but can’t resist pop too. She’s a 90s girl at heart, so Alanis Morissette sits happily alongside Billie Eilish and Chappell Roan. Beth grew up on her parents’ eclectic CD collection, listening to Kate Bush, Nina Simone and Pink Floyd, and singing Brenda Wootton songs in the Cornish folk clubs. Together, we’re drawn to anything with a good melody that we can harmonise and spin with a country feel.

Rosanna took on some jazz gigs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe on her gap year and never looked back. She went on to study for a four-year degree at Trinity College of Music, where she met her Puppini Sisters bandmates, and has forged a career in performing, session singing and education.

Beth started singing in folk clubs in her native Cornwall and has loved it ever since. After graduating she performed at gigs and festivals across Europe and in function bands, and did a stint at the Edinburgh Fringe as an actress. She then created the award-winning duo Ma Polaine, with much-loved radio play on BBC Radio 2 and on Cerys Matthews’ acclaimed BBC 6 Music show.

Now the two come together as Hay Girl Hey.

Vintage hankies at the ready... we love a wedding... all events are welcome but you can't beat a wedding... meeting the happy couple, seeing the gorgeous outfits, listening to the speeches, witnessing a pivotal moment - we always feel honoured to be at a wedding.

We arrive 30-45mins before a performance and it takes us 10-20 minutes to set up.
Our usual gig will consist of 2x 45 minute sets but we are flexible. If there is additional music needed such as a special song for an announcement, or walking down the aisle etc. then we can adapt our repertoire and change timings to accommodate. We also play piano and sing classical music which is sometimes requested at wedding for a one off song.

Absolutely but we ask for shade as we are using an acoustic bass which is sensitive to sunshine. Also we will need a power supply but are happy to bring long extension leads. If you let us know your vision then we can figure it out.

Yes, we’re happy for you to choose songs you’d like. If you ask, we’ll send you our song list before the gig and you can pick from it. You can also request up to three songs that aren’t on the list, as long as you let us know in advance.
