Best gig would be the o2 Academy in Oxford in October 2018. And best venue... well probably a field(!) - Oxford fireworks in front of thousands of people :)
Queen, The Beatles, Bryan Adams, Bruno Mars, Green Day. Queen are my faves and they hold the GOAT: 'Innuendo' - perfect in every aspect of music: harmony, melody, rhythm, performance technical demand, arrangement, dynamics, lyrical context (Freddie's at death's door yet writing about the meaning of life, and my word that top E flat at the end of the chorus!)
I have gigged for 14 years, 10 of which professionally on the weekly wedding scene, and have performed over 1200 gigs overall. I got into it with the help of a man I owe my life to, my booking agent Kevin, who saw me busking in a shopping centre aged 14 and got me booked up every weekend for years to follow, where I learnt my craft and gradually built up my repertoire and stage confidence.
Always fun no matter what the event, but... Weddings! That pulsing feeling as the room goes silent and the air goes static and I play the first few notes of a bride's aisle march. OR at the reception, having the first dance song end and then cranking up the volume and busting into a solid party banger - no better feeling!
Evening show set:
My act is not just about belting out 'Mr Brightside', my show comes with guitar skills that dazzle, an infectious stage presence that draws eyes, and a huge smile and fun energy that ignites your party into legendary status.
My memorisation of music and lyrics is second to none. Every song in my repertoire list is learnt to a tee, therefore no open mic style ipads/phones, and no sheets and music stands disrupting the stage aesthetic. This allows my eyes and full attention to always be on the audience, engaging on a level many musicians can’t. I will literally dance with your guests whilst playing solos. No cheesy backing tracks with karaoke count-in metronomes, everything is produced live with my voice and hands (and feet!).
Moreover, I am extremely organised. Calendars and structure is literally a part of my personality and my friends will vouch for this! So I can guarantee flawless communicational skills and no errors in admin or finer details to remember.
For an evening show, it takes me just over an hour to set up and I usually play 2x1 hour sets. For fingerstyle, it takes 25 minutes to set up and I'll play as long as you need. For relaxed n chilled sets, it takes me 45 minutes to set up and I usually play for 2x50 minute sets.
Yes providing there is shelter if it rains.
