About / Biography

We are a lively and dynamic Manchester-based ceilidh band featuring upbeat folk music sets and the most engaging ceilidh dances we've come across in our years of experience in the folk scene.

There is nothing like a ceilidh to bring guests together at an event, and in our version you will always have a good time - getting it wrong only contributes to the fun. Our caller (leading the dances) is second to none when it comes to enthusiasm and warmth - whether you have never been to a ceilidh or you are a seasoned pro we offer something for everyone.

Our musicians comproise of guitar and two violins, alongside foot drum and pedals to liven the sound, although we can also be booked in different formats to suit different venues and budgets. As individuals we have all performed across the UK and into Europe in various musical outfits, and our experience means you can be assured of high quality musicianship and a professional approach on the night.

We are suitable for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, corporate, fundraisers and much more; see our footage to get an idea of what we could bring to your event. Alternatively, come and attend one of our public ceilidhs in and around Levenshulme, Manchester - a chance to truly see us in action! More details on our website.

Fancy a DJ after your ceilidh? We can also offer extended use of PA / lighting and either your playlisdt or our curated wedding playlist as an add on at a very competitive rate, let us know this is of interest when booking.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We require the dance space to be cleared of tables, and there should be enough space for your dancers to be able to jig around during the dances and not be too constrained! The band can fit into a smaller area if required, with the caller usually amongst the dancers.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We are self contained in terms of sound and lighting with PA and lighting rig to add mood and vibe!

What information do you require about a venue?

We will ask for details regarding parking to unload the gear, and any instructions for arrival / entry codes etc.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We will play a playlist before and in the interval that is upbeat folk music. We can also provide at DJ/playlist as a separate offering after our ceilidh sets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Playing a local public ceilidh gig in Levenshulme, Manchester where everyone was having an amazing time!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

A variety of folk groups with an Irish preference, including Dervish, Lunasa, Flook

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We have been gigging musicians for over 20 years each in different bands, and are bringing together our collective experience into this newly launched ceilidh band.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Weddings are great, seeing all the guests come together during a ceilidh and seeing the bride and groom letting loose and having huge amounts of fun is our aim! Equally, we're happy in a local, small barn dance event in a village hall.

Do you do gigs further away?

Yes we will consider all enquiries, including gigs abroad! The fee will need to reflect the time and travel costs incurred, e.g. overnight if an overnight stay is required.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup time: between 45 mins - 1hr. We normally perform 2 x 45 minute sets or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, provided there is a backup plan should it rain - the instruments are very precious to us!

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We have tailored our ceilidh set to have dances that are enjoyable and not overly complex (think Boston Tea Party, Virginia Reel) but if you have a strong preference for a specific dance this can be discussed in advance. We can learn a tune for a first dance if required.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

'I've had a fantastic time, it was great fun, we got to dance loads of dances, it was really clear to understand what I had to do and when, brilliant!'
