About / Biography

Formed in 2005, our 11-piece covers band began with a spark of inspiration from founder John Pierce and a small group of enthusiastic musicians. What started as a handful of students with a shared passion for performing quickly grew into a full-blown ensemble with energy, talent, and a love for perfoming music together.

Over the years, we've entertained audiences of all sizes with vibrant, feel-good performances that span every genre. With powerhouse vocals, a dynamic horn section, and a tight rhythm section, we bring an unforgettable live music experience to every stage.

From soul to funk, and pop to rock, Whether it's a festival, wedding, corporate event, or private party, we tailor our set to suit the crowd and guarantee a show-stopping performance. From timeless classics to modern favourites, our mission is simple: to have fun, to share that joy on stage, and to make sure you have an unforgettable time with us.

We do it for the love of it — and we can't wait to bring the party to you.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

A band this size would need 5 x 8 metres (approx 16 x 28 feet) to be comfortable, but we've squeezed into 3 x 6 metres (approx 10 x 20 feet) before.

A stage is better for us if it's possible. It ensures all our gear is out of your way, and of course, you'll be able to see us better.

Everything we use plugs in to normal mains sockets - but not all into the same one. Ideally we need at least 3 separate sockets to run extension leads from. We have around 50 plugs to plug in altogether.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We bring all our own sound and lighting equipment required for our show unless your event provides it, for example a festival. In this case we will supply you with our technical requirments document to ensure we have everything we need.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need the full postal address of the venue, and a contact there if appropriate.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We’re happy to play music through the PA before the band and between sets. You might want to bring an IPOD or mp3 player or we can use what we have. We turn the PA off around 15 minutes after the band stop playing so if you want music after this you may want to source a separate DJ.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

It's impossible to say! We've done some cracking gigs in small venues with small audiences, and played in front of crowds of thousands. Each have been special in their own way & as long as the audience is having fun, it's the best gig and best venue ever!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

The Loose Cannons Band is 11 members strong & our musical tastes vary enormously, hence our eclectic and varied setlist! We constantly add new tunes to our set and very much enjoy the variety of atists and genres we cover.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

The oldest Cannon has been playing for 50 years and gigging for 45, whilst the youngest has been at it for a mere 10 years. And we have everything between!

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We don't have a favorite type of event and we don't care why you want to have a knees up. If you want a band, we want to be that band. We're available for your festival, party, wedding, divorce, funeral, bar mitzvah, knees up, hoedown, bash, event, shindig, gala, ball, social or whatever.

Don't book a disco, book The Loose Cannons Band!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Typically we arrive 2.5 hours before the performance to set up. Set up is noisy at times.

We find 2 x 60 minute sets works best. An example might be set 1: 9.00pm – 10.00pm, set 2: 10.30 – 11.30.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We are happy to perform outside, but need guaranteed weatherproof protection for our equipment, and a regulated power supply. A stage is better for us if it's possible. It ensures that the ground is level for the equipment, keeps our gear off the floor in the event of rain, and of course, you'll be able to see us better. We also have to bring a more powerful PA system which may increase the overall price.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can commit to covering a special tune for your wedding if you can give us enough notice. We need at least 6 weeks to make a decent job of it.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Customers often comment on our professionalism, flexibility, and enthusiasm & say it makes working with us a pleasure. They also love our ability to get even the most unlikely people up on the dance floor!

What does the band need me to provide?

Please arrange a band room at the venue for us. We use this for changing, keeping belongings safe and hanging out in while we’re waiting to play. Bear in mind there will be 12 or 13 of us including crew.

If it is possible, please add us to your buffet headcount (or arrange sandwiches in the band room) - we’d really appreciate it as it’s often a long night for everyone, especially the road team.

Can you provide staging?

Chris our technician provides an indoor staging hire service. Arrangements for this can be made directly with him so let us know if you'd like me to put you in touch.
