My price excludes travel costs charged at: £13.23 per hour and with fuel charged at 56p per mile. Congestion, toll changes, parking, all to be paid by the engager. Band shows would require additional fuel/travel costs - dependent on travel arrangements. Longer fees/multi-day contracts will include subsistence fees. Breaks: minimum of 15 mins per 45 minute set. Late finish fees: Payable when time of return is between midnight and 2:00 am: £37.50 Overnight stay: Payable when return would be after 2:00 am: £147.00 Late fees/overnight stay will be agreed before confirmation of the show and included in the amount. As they won't apply to all bookings, dependent on Luke's location prior to the show and the time of year.

Luke Askew brings an impressive repertoire of 200+ songs to your event. From the 50s right up to now, he focusses on playing tunes that will make your guests/patrons remember the night!

His performance experience spans over a decade, playing all over the UK, on BBC Introducing and across Europe. He is able to adapt to fit your needs and taste, bringing his signature soulful sounds to each track. Whether it's a chill atmosphere or something crazier! He's got hits, floor fillers, soulful ballads and much more!

Available as a solo act; accompanied in a duo; or fronting a band.

What are your basic technical requirements?

Flexible in performance size, due to small act. Will require 2 mains inputs.


Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Sound and lighting can be provided (lighting needs to be explicitly asked for) and we require appropriate access to power.


What information do you require about a venue?

Where to load in and where parking is.

Sound restrictions etc.


Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music beforehand with a provided playlist.


Are you self contained?

Yes, Luke provides everything needed to get the show looking and sounding great!

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We performed at Lattitude festival! It was incredible to there performing whilst people we arriving for a great weekend.


Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Stevie Wonder and his endless musicality. Mixing well performed and made songs with iconic melodies and a voice out of this world!!


What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been playing gigs since I was a teenager. I started in rock bands and now I play many solo gigs all over the country and Europe!


What's your favourite type of event to play at?

All sorts! Weddings and festivals are the top two!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best. Any significant extensions will have rate adjusted accordingly.


Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.


Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 5 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them. But it must be agreed upon a month before the show.


How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers would describe Luke as a soulful singer with a great range of tasteful songs, fitting for many different events!


Does Luke take requests

Luke takes requests agreed prior to the show, if it's on his songlist, he can do so without prior preparation. If not he can prepare his version of it, given the show is a minimum of a month away


Does he do first dances

Yes! Luke does first dances at no extra cost.
