Mat is a solo instrumentalist who also loves to sing. His primary instrument is Spanish guitar, which he has played for nearly 45 years. He loves creating an ambience and atmosphere with his music, a beautiful background to your special event.
Mat plays a unique mix of styles and can tailor to your needs. He is influenced by Folk, Classical, Celtic, Jazz, Latin, Flamenco, Blues and Soul. Mat is very happy to include some vocals in any set list.
Mat has performed publicly for over 35 years solo, as well as alongside many international musicians. He has also recorded with a large range of international artists including South African acapella group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
He studied at the London Guitar Institute as well as with various world renowned music and rhythm teachers including Glen Velez and Reinhard Flatischler. Mat has spent a number of years living in Spain, where he studied guitar and soaked up the flamenco flavours.
Mat spends his time both performing, teaching, composing and sharing his passion for the joy of creating and playing music.

Performing at peoples weddings feels like the greatest honour as a musician, to be a part of creating the atmosphere for someone’s special day.
I grew up listening to the Beatles, Jazz, Folk…. I love early Soul music, Al Green, Bill Withers….
I have been gigging since my teenage years, performing in many different bands in differing styles. I now love playing solo and the freedom that brings.
Weddings, as stated above, as it is such an honour!
I require a minimum of 15 minutes to set up, though ideally a little longer.
I am very happy to perform outside. I have sometimes played a combination of unplugged or battery amplification for a ceremony, followed by a set with amplification for entertainment.
I am very happy, of course, to accommodate the needs and wishes of clients regarding set lists, as best I can. I am always happy to learn songs and material that is special for clients (time allowing!)
