About / Biography

Until 2020, Ritchie played in some of the UK's most prestigious venues including; The Lanesborough, 20 Stories, Mandarin Oriental, The Groucho Club, The Jazz Cafe, Theatre Royal Haymarket and Lords Cricket Ground. He's entertained royalty, celebrities and high powered business clientele.

After several years residing in the countryside, taking a break and travelling the world, he has relocated to West Yorkshire to relaunch his career in music.

Ritchie is a versatile musician and can play the majority of genres; whether that be jazz, pop, covers, classical or boogie woogie. He plays entirely from memory and rarely ever uses sheet music.

Ritchie also works as a session musician and musical director. He is part of an 80's and 90's pop band and is a regular on the jazz scene.

He is available as a solo pianist, or as a duet with a very talented female singer.

So, if you're looking for a pianist to set an elegant, fun and lively backdrop to your wedding or special event, look no further!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

A piano to be supplied at the venue is desirable. If this is not possible, I have a full sized keyboard, with stand and a small amp.

A flat performance space within 1 meter of mains electricity is required.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, unless otherwise agreed.

What information do you require about a venue?

Precise location only.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I can provide music from Amazon Music Unlimited.

Our venue has a piano but I'm unsure whether it's in use or not?

I can contact the venue on your behalf, but any costs of tuning etc will have to be covered by the venue or the client.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I performed at Lord's Cricket Ground for the retirement party of the CEO of Capita. My singer and I had to do our own arrangement of 'thank you for the music' with lyrics chosen by his colleagues.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Elton John. His showmanship and those piano skills! Your Song is for me, the perfect song.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

After studying Law at University, I realized I was more interested in music than my academia. I left university with very little to my name and built a 10 year career in music, which sadly came to an abrupt end when COVID hit.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Weddings. I love to see people happy and I love love. To be a small part of such a special day is a huge honour and pleasure.

Do you sing as well?

I have worked in studios and sung bass parts. If you would like to book a singer, I have an incredible female singer I work with. Email me for more information.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup time when providing my own equipment is 25 minutes. I usually perform sets of 50 minutes and I'm happy to do several sets. I have a wide repertoire.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as there's cover in case of rain and the ground is flat. A power supply is also essential.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I can learn specific songs, but I ask that these are requested in advance. I'm happy to provide on the spot requests as long as I know them!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Energetic, jazzy, classic and sophisticated.

Do you take requests?

Yes, absolutely. For specific requests, I ask that you let me know in advance and I'll be happy to accommodate.
