Anglo-Venezuelan soprano and piano-bar performer Sofia has often been described as a versatile and flexible musician. She is finishing the Royal College of Music's prestigious Opera School as a Sybil Tutton Award Holder, a Huffner Scholar and supported by the Gordon Palmer Trust. She spent her early years between Venezuela, Azerbaijan, the UK, and France. She began piano studies at the age of 8, and later discovered a passion for composition. She won the Rotary Club's Jeune Talent District award (D1740) at age 14 for her musical achievements, and, a year later, was selected as the headliner performer for the Aquitaine Festival des Lyceens opening ceremony. She performed on several occasions as a self-accompanying singer-songwriter at the Conseil Régional of Aquitaine and for the Victoire des Sports ceremony. At age 16, she discovered a love for lyrical singing which she pursued during her undergraduate degree in Music at the University of Oxford in numerous operatic productions and renowned choirs (Schola Cantorum, Genesis 16). She also played as a regular performer at Sandy's Piano Bar (Oxford). Following her Bachelor's, she obtained a Master's in Music (Voice) at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama where she received a Distinction, and the highest grade of her year in singing. During her Postgraduate, she performed every week at the Marriott Hotel in Cardiff. In 2019, she spent three months in Florence in the context of the European Opera Academy, where she was hired on a weekly basis by the Four Seasons Hotel as a self-accompanying piano-lounge performer.
Since September 2020, she has been a regular performer at the OSO Barnes Piano Lounge. She has played for a variety of events in and around London (restaurant openings, hotel events, weddings, memorials, etc.).
LOUNGE PIANO + JAZZ/POP SINGING
CLASSICAL SINGING
For any events within London, I am happy to provide my own piano (it's a lovely Roland FX30) as long as the cost of the Uber is covered. Anything outside of London requires a piano to be on site. Or if people are travelling from London to the venue, I'm also usually happy to discuss feasible logistics to take my piano (as long as there's a way to get it back to London).

I have a lot of experience with evaluating what kind of amplification is required based on the space. Some things, however, are standard:
- Jazz/pop singing will not be done without a microphone (unless under very specific and rare circumstances agreed by both parties). Otherwise a mic must always be arranged.
- Opera /classical singing can be done without a microphone when accompanied by a piano, particularly an acoustic one. If performing with backing tracks, a mic is desirable to allow all guests to enjoy the performance.
- If a performance is solo, acoustic piano as background music (i.e. with people speaking), it is recommended that the piano has amplification if the space is large.
30 minutes to 1 hour to set up.
Every event is unique. Repertoire is flexible – there can be a mix-and-match of genres for each specific need.
