I'm Sophie May and based in Dorset. I'm a singer songwriter and cover singer, singing a variety of songs from up-to-date pop music to older music from the 60s. I enjoy performing at weddings, private and public events and celebratory occassions.
I trained as a dancer since of the age of 3 and then later went on to train as a singer from the age of 12, completing exams to grade 8 and currently working on my singing diploma to provide teaching. I am gigging in my spare time because of my love for singing, alonside working in retail full time currently.

I am happy to play an appropriate playlist of songs between and after sets. I'm happy to select the music or let the client choose.
I can perform with or without, if electric is not permitted. However, would be preferred with electrics.
I performed at a really lively venue in Portsmouth recently which was such a fun Saturday night! Everyone was getting involved and singing along! The audience kept asking for encores and wouldn't let me leave - honestly I could have sang all night. I left the venue on a high and will be back for sure!
My most aspiring artists are Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish as I love to learn up to date pop songs. On the other hand, Etta James is also a favourite of mine because I love singing older songs but giving them a modern touch.
I started singing at open mics and finding contacts and venues through word of mouth. Since then I have been gigging for private functions, wedding and local public events for occasions, alongside working in Retail full time currently.
I love playing at all sorts of events but I would say my favourite event would be celebratory occasions and lively venues because I enjoy singing to a crowd that wants to get involved and sing along!
Of course! I can learn up to 5 song requests per event.
I will arrive about 30 mins before the event. To set up, it takes about 20 minutes including a sound check. I typically perform 2 x 45 minutes. For weddings, this may vary: wedding ceremony (60 minutes) or reception drinks/evening which can vary in time depending on the client and venue.
I am more than happy to play outside but I just ask for a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. Although, I can also perform without electricity, the PA system just might be slightly quieter without power supply.
Usually I will send the client a set list and they can choose from that list or I am willing to adapt my set list for the client/occasion. More than happy to learn any specific songs.
