The Pop Pickers were established in 2016 and are a UK south coast band playing classic hits from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Ideal choice for clubs, parties, weddings and corporate work. We typically play between 80-90 gigs per year (pre-COVID) and have developed extensive experience within the music market.
The Pop Pickers are made up of four experienced musicians and singers as follows:
Marlow Gillham - Marlow is an experienced lead vocalist with an excellent vocal range. He is comfortable with ballads through to gutsy rock numbers. Marlow also plays lead/rhythm guitar and keyboards in the band.
Ian Templeton - Ian is a very experienced guitar player and has played hundreds of gigs playing the music he loves from the 50's, 60's and 70's. Although playing lead/rhythm guitar today he has also played bass in previous bands.
Dave Glover - Dave is an experienced bass player and has played and toured with a number of named bands over the years.
Danny Rowlands - Danny is the band's drummer and provides a wealth of experience having played in various bands around the UK and Europe for many years.

We require a suitable area to play in free from obstructions. About 7 square meters is ideal but we can squeeze down if needed. Two mains sockets are usually enough if they are close to the playing area. It helps to avoid being close to corridors or walkways where people are constantly walking past.
Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
Yes, we’re happy to play recorded music from before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves, or let the client choose the music if we have discussed and agreed it beforehand.
We have played approximately 600 gigs and some stand out for different reasons. Could be an interactive and enthusiastic audience, impressive venue, room acoustics, size of the audience.
Probably The Beatles. They had too many great songs to pick just one out.
We are an experienced mature band. Our earliest experience is from the mid sixties and the various members have been gigging ever since. This band was formed in 2015 and have played approximately of 600 gigs. We just love the music and enjoy giving pleasure to those who come to see us.
We love playing at all sorts of events but dinner dances are our favourite! The guests are always happy and out for a good time with their meal and dancing.
It will vary depending on the venue, location, playing times and any special arrangement. Please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
We play all genres of music from within the 50's, 60's, and 70's decades.
Typically no as we give a one off fee based on our understanding of the engagement. Expenses may be added by agreement if we know in advance what they might be i.e. ferry fees, parking charges etc.
We usually arrive approximately 1.5 hours before we are due to play, which allows for an orderly set up. This may vary if, for example, at a wedding we need to set up early as we are playing in the same room where the ceremony and speeches are taking place, or at a dinner dance where we are playing shortly after the meal.
Performance times vary depending on the engagement and customer requirements. We are flexible with this and will adjust to suit. The most common performance times in our experience are 2 x 1 hour sets, or 3 x 45 minutes sets.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
We generally play the songs in our set list, which is published so clients know what to expect. For special events such as weddings and anniversaries we will learn specific songs if given sufficient time and notice.
Previous customers would describe us a fun party band playing catchy sing along tunes that everybody knows.
