Live violin music can create the perfect atmosphere for your event and I have over 20 years of experience performing at weddings and functions. I play acoustic or electric violin alongside a versatile selection of backing tracks, from full production versions to intimate piano or acoustic guitar arrangements.
Based in Leeds, I use a highly portable setup that allows me to move effortlessly between different areas, indoors or outdoors. My repertoire spans pop, Bollywood, film & TV, classical and jazz, allowing me to provide the perfect soundtrack for your ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast and beyond.
Alongside my solo work, I also perform regularly with two established string quartets, Magenta Strings and Serenade String Quartet. I have played with Magenta Strings for around 20 years, giving me extensive experience of performing at weddings and events. My solo violin service is a new venture, but it builds on many years of professional performance experience.

A 2m x 2m space, somewhere to store a violin case and somewhere nearby to park.
Sound equipment but not lighting; I use a Behringer B1X battery powered amp.
Name, Location, Parking locations, desired performance locations, storage locations for violin case etc.
I can play Spotify through my speaker in between live playing, though there will be some gaps will I prepare to play and just after.
Yes this is not a problem. My setup is highly portable and is quick and easy to move around, and doesn't need power.
I've toured in multiple countries as part of different acts but this solo setup is new. With Barrage I played on Children in Need, which was awesome.
I'm classically trained but I've always listened to Pop and Electronic music. I like too many artists and songs to have any clear favourites :)
I've performed classically since I was young as both my parents are also classical violinists. I expanded my experience aged 20 when I joined a Canadian stage show, learning folk, blue-grass, jazz styles and more and touring with this act. I have extensive experience performing in string quartets at weddings and functions.
Weddings are always lovely - I must have played hundreds but I still enjoy them, and playing for ceremonies, drinks receptions and meals is a nice time of day to play a gig :)
My acoustic violin sounds best because the unamplified sound straight from the violin can be clearly heard - and this sounds the best. This unamplified sound combines with the amplified sound, plus reverb, to create a rich sound that works with the backing tracks. The electric violin sound is mostly from the amplifier, which still sounds really nice, it's just not quite on par with the acoustic. But it does also look very cool :)
I usually aim to arrive about 30-45 minutes before start times and will play as and when the client wants me to.
I just need shade outside (I could play in the sun for about 15 minutes but beyond that it is not good for the violin). I don't need mains power.
If a client says to play what I think works best - great.
If a client has a general preference of genres eg Classical or Pop - or a 50/50 Classical and Film/TV - that's also great. Or even some genres they would prefer me to avoid can be very useful.
For special moments (such as bridal entry) I can work with clients to play any piece of music - even if it's not on the repertoire - and so long as it's playable.
For any other times I'm playing clients can request up to two pieces from the repertoire list. This is because clients generally move around venues a lot, and will often not even get to hear pieces they spent time selecting.
This act is new but I've played hundreds of string quartet gigs at weddings over the years and people have always been very complementary saying our music sets such a lovely mood straight away.
Of course! These can easily be agreed and played at the appropriate times. Walking down the aisle pieces can simply be faded out once everyone has come in and finished walking into position.
Yes I know many of the pieces I play by memory and my setup is wireless meaning I can wander freely.
If I have the piece they want to hear absolutely!
