We all know the Vera Lynn favourites from the Wartime era, but this inventive, funny and playful duet takes the music of the 40s and a bit beyond to a new level, including numbers which I'd forgotten about, but loved.
They are a perfect harmonic duet, with voices which cover the full range, each bringing their own complimentary personalities to the songs.
And what a variety of songs there are! From the tear jerking wartime hits, to the fun and frivolity that also comes with that era: 'I like coffee, I like tea' from the Ink Spots. They don't make life easy for themselves! Some of the lyrics are real tongue twisters, but they bring polish and verve to what they do.
Their humour between numbers keeps the whole evening in the Forties 'vibe', and their close harmony gives the Andrews Sisters a run for their money.
I'm a child of the 60s, but really enjoyed the evening. If you love close harmony of the era, nostalgia and playful fun you will love this show.
