| Solo Guitar/vocals 2 X 45 mins, local event. | £150 |
An accomplished and experienced musician, Will has been playing and singing for decades, including a decade or so as co-frontman of busy rock/indie function band The Fabulators, entertaining audiences large and small, everywhere from weddings, festivals and corporates to a hospital for the criminally insane (yes really!). The name comes from his day job as a blacksmith.
A seasoned entertainer with 100s of acoustic duo, and full band gigs under his belt, he has stepped away from The Fabulators, and can now be relied upon for a professional and passionate performance as a solo artist. (It may also be possible to bring a lead guitarist as accompanyment, depending on his prior commitments) Rich baritone vocals are complimented by well honed guitar skills, allowing him to perform spine tingling acoustic arrangements of songs from his eclectic and slightly left field repertoire!
Not a typical acoustic covers artist, Will plays rock and indie covers, but is also drawn to the darker corners of Americana – expect songs from Beck, Johnny Cash, and Counting Crows, to name but a few, as well as lesser known gems from the genre, a few surprises along the way from the old function band set, and well known but less often covered songs from the last few decades!
Will is a self contained performer, with a choice of impressive P.A. equipment suitable for most events. A little space to play, and a dedicated 240volt socket is all that’s required. Even if there is no mains power on tap, I can either bring a battery powered "busking": set up, or a generator to power a larger PA system on request.
A word on fees: Please give me as much information about your event as you can, so I can price it fairly for both of us : every event is different, and price quoted will vary according to distance to travel, time on site, equipment I need to bring, public or private event, special requests et.c. So for instance, my minimum fee for doing a doing a chilled out set for a pub or farmers market down the road will be very different from my minimum fee for performing at a private function 50 miles away, that I may need to be set up for hours before performing!
Based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
= areas covered (up to 500 miles)
= free travel (up to 20 miles)
Please note:
If there's anything you'd particularly like to hear at your event, either on or (especially) not on this list, please let me know early on in the booking process to avoid disappointment. I do my damnedest not to rely on an ipad or lyric sheet in front of me, so I occasionally need to "brush up" if it's a song not in my regular play list. Also....once you've been playing as long as mr
there's never a comprehensive song list!

As a rule I will need one 240v socket nearby, and enough room for me, a mic stand, and speakers. The performance and sound quality will benefit from having more than minimal set up space though! Ask if you think there may be a problem!
I have a choice of sound equipment, from battery powered "busking" type set up, to a hefty PA system suitable for a marquee/pub gig. I can provide some stage lighting on request.
Please give me as much information as possible about load in location, parking and timings. Also if the venue has a limiter and or curfew.
I can play background music of your choosing before/between sets - ideally let me have a spotify playlist to ensure you hear the choice of music you'd prefer.
Very hard to say - the best wedding gigs performed with my band were wonderful, but I've also had some great experiences getting to play on a big stage at festivals car shows et.c, with professional sound and lighting technicians helping us deliver the very best performance. We warmed up the crowds for both Toploader, and Scouting for Girls at festivals. Shortly after leaving my band I was asked to stand in at short notice in a friend's rock'n'roll band playing the Derry Festival of Jazz in Northern Island - this actually involved playing 6 gigs over three days in different venues around the city - that was a crazy experience which I'll never forget!
Many of my favourite artists are quite niche...16 Horsepower, The Pine Hill Haints, Alabama 3, The Legendary Shack Shakers, Murder By Death for example, but I've also grown up listening to the great indie songs of the 80's and 90's onwards. Nick Cave is one of my favourite artists. I don't think I can even take a shot at "greatest song of all time". It would depend on the day, and whether I was watching it being performed live.
I've been playing and singing, and in and out of bands ever since school. But the bulk of my professional gigging experience came between about 2010 and 2022 playing 100s of gigs with indie/rock cover band and duo The Fabulators.
It's all about the people...any gig with nice hosts/clients and an appreciative audience is a joy to play.
Up to 2 X 45 minute sets
Unloading/set up/sound check will take approx 45 minutes, unless there are particular challenges on site (ie, no nearby parking, upstairs venue, et.c.
Absolutely, but I need a level surface, protection from the elements, and usually a dedicated 240v power supply. (I can offer off grid alternatives on request, but I do need to be provided shelter to keep me and my equipment dry).
I can usually learn a song or two, given sufficient notice, and if it's in a genre I can cover practically, but note (and I've experienced some very odd requests in the wedding band!) it's not a great idea to hire someone with a specific vibe/style, then try to persuade them to do something completely different for your night!
Clients comment on the wide variety of songs within a typical set, as well as Will's skill and authenticity delivering them
Over the last decade with The Fabulators, Will has played countless weddings, parties, corporate events et.c but has only just begun to promote himself as a solo performer.
In my years with the band, I played 100s of venues - Pubs, Private Wedding Venues, Festivals, Car Shows and Corporate events. A few highlights might be The Royal Norfolk Showground (for Japanese Auto Extravaganza) The National Arboretum (For COPS charity) where Penny Lancaster was amongst the crowd on the dance floor. I played The City of Derry Jazz Festival as a stand in for an injured friend, and got the royal seal of approval from Undertones songwriter John O'Neil who came to say hello after dancing to our set with his wife. I've had the great privilege of playing and singing at funerals, as well as performing an extraordinary gig at Broadmoor Hospital, before its move from the old building.
