Review Centre: 1920s, 30s & 40s Style Bands

"We came across Swing Gitan at the Nottingham Contemporary and were both taken by their energetic and uplifting sound delivered in a skilled and playful fashion. Since then we have had the pleasure of seeing quite a few of their gigs and never been disappointed and so when we were considering who to book for our wedding last august the choice was easy. We wanted music for music lovers that people could also dance to and were no disappointed. The whole process of booking the band and arranging the specifics as well as asking them to learn the Waltz that we intended to dance to was just really straight forward and pleasurable which was certainly helped by Elliott’s easygoing ways and quiet confidence that this would turn out the way we had hoped. We feel very lucky and blessed to have had the good fortune together such good people for our wedding occasion and the presence of Swing Gitan was a large part of that. Indeed, it was a testament to the success of the band that people of all backgrounds and ages loved their performances and demonstrated this through dancing, shouting and cheering throughout the night. Needless to say, we would highly recommend this band to anyone seeking a great sounding and quirky gypsy jazz band! "

"We were so excited when we came across Almost Modern Jukebox online during lockdown when searching for a wedding band, and they didn't disappoint! Daisy was super friendly, professional and quick to respond to any of our queries and there are a range of offerings with different price ranged to to suit your needs. They we just brilliant on the night, both playing and the friendly banter and atmosphere they created with our guests - 'Happy Feet' still makes me smile today :D And I loved the impromptu rendition of tequila on sax when the groom arrived for the final song! Thanks again guys - you were brilliant!"

"Very happy with everything. Really easy to contact you by email or phone, very helpful, professional, supportive, and friendly. I booked the Blitz Band for my 1920s, 1930s, 1940s-themed 60th birthday party. The Blitz Band were also extremely helpful, professional, supportive to my party. The range of music they played through the ages was excellent in tempo, and volume and easy to dance to. I and all my guests are very impressed with the Blitz Band, we had a fantastic night. Absolutely no problems at all. Last minute musicians and the Blitz Band were brilliant, definitely would use both again."

"Daniel Benisty was the entertainer at my son’s wedding. We still talk about the amazing energy he generated and people who were there say it was the best part of the evening . Daniel was extremely courteous, punctual and professional. He visited the venue with us and planned the whole event. He went out of his way to assist with renting a stage, lights etc. His band and singer who were phenomenal, kept playing well after their allotted time. In short, book him !"

"We booked Lady Luck for our recent wedding in Brighton and we have had so many guests compliment us on the sound, style and professionalism of the band - the lead singer Keisher in particular was amazing, every conversation I had with her leading up to the day she always seemed very calm and knowledgeable and it felt like we were in good hands. Then on the actual day her singing and energy were amazing, the main thing people spoke to us about the day after was how great the band were - she walks around in the crowd as she sings and people really seemed to love that too as she connected with the audience so well. Thanks Keisher and team for a great day 😊"

"We hired Vic for a birthday party in our local. He played a good set before starting in with the traditional pub sing-a-long, from 'Roll out the Barrel' to doing the 'Okey-Kokey' at the end. The song sheets really helped bring in those who didn't know the words so everyone had a really good night, just like we used to down the pub. Brilliant. Thanks Vic. Nick Jenkin "
