Review Centre: 1920s, 30s & 40s Style Bands

"We all know the Vera Lynn favourites from the Wartime era, but this inventive, funny and playful duet takes the music of the 40s and a bit beyond to a new level, including numbers which I'd forgotten about, but loved. They are a perfect harmonic duet, with voices which cover the full range, each bringing their own complimentary personalities to the songs. And what a variety of songs there are! From the tear jerking wartime hits, to the fun and frivolity that also comes with that era: 'I like coffee, I like tea' from the Ink Spots. They don't make life easy for themselves! Some of the lyrics are real tongue twisters, but they bring polish and verve to what they do. Their humour between numbers keeps the whole evening in the Forties 'vibe', and their close harmony gives the Andrews Sisters a run for their money. I'm a child of the 60s, but really enjoyed the evening. If you love close harmony of the era, nostalgia and playful fun you will love this show."

"The Band played at the reception for our daughter's wedding in the unusual setting of Boggle Hole Youth Hostel - well done for making it down the hill! They were perfect for the occasion, with a great choice of lively and well-known tunes, and never dominated the proceedings by being too loud. They are all extremely talented musicians. The vast majority of the wedding party are singers and performers, so are hard to impress, but everyone enjoyed the music and commented on the lovely atmosphere the band created. Very highly recommended to help your event go with a swing! Thank you."

"We had The Pharaoh's sing at our wedding reception in the garden, they were AMAZING. We had loads of great comments and other friends asking for her contact details. "We booked Oriana and The Charmers for our wedding in August 2018, held at the Brooklands Museum in Surrey. Having found them via this site, Oriana was a delight to deal with whilst making the necessary arrangements and answering our questions promptly. Our family and friends continue commenting how good she and they were, with their style perfectly suiting the mood of our wedding. Their set-list was extensive, and they even learned the song for our first dance. Very happy to recommend Oriana and The Charmers."

"We hired The very popular Polka Dot Peaches for an event in June. They were amazing and were terrific with the little girls afterwards in taking some time to allow for photos to be taken. All three are not only professional but very easy to get along with. We would certainly book them again."
