Review Centre: Solo Musicians

"I hired Matthew for my 50th birthday party and am so pleased that I did - he was exactly what I was looking for! I selected him on the basis of the quality that I saw on the website, and felt that he was even better in person. Being somewhat fussy, I was apprehensive about finding someone who could meet my needs, but Matthew suggested that we had a meeting before my event and we chatted through my ideas and preferences - as well as the things that I did not want! I came away feeling that he understood me and that we had connected, which was incredibly reassuring, and I was not let down on the night. Matthew is an incredibly talented singer and guitarist - recreating songs in a way that not only reflects the original, but often putting his own twist onto them in a way that keeps them fresh and interesting. His use of the loop pedal was particularly impressive! It was of note that so many of my guests commented on how good he was - they had a great time and really got into the swing of things as he gradually turned up the tempo and got everyone dancing. In doing so, he took requests, interacted with the crowd, showed a good sense of humour and came across and a fun, friendly and approachable guy. He played a wide range of songs, all of which reflected our discussion beforehand, with a great balance between those you might expect at a party and some 'surprises' that may be less common but worked equally well - if not better! I would definitely hire Matthew again, and would recommend him to pretty much anyone: he has a list of nearly 500 songs to choose from, and has a strict policy of not having a 'usual' setlist - instead preferring to engage in a discussion of what you'd like, so would be able to cater for all tastes - even mine! "So glad we booked Ben for our wedding reception!! Ben started his set joining in on our first dance song which was magical before going in with our requested Ibiza classics music. Ben really got our party started and everyone commented on how good he was! Ben got involved on the dance floor and really got everyone going. We genuinely didn’t want it to end!! Thank you so much! "Steve travelled to Italy to play for our wedding in Lake Como. From the initial booking and discussion of music requirements to organising travel Steve was extremely professional and very fast at responding. We booked Steve to play for when the guests arrived, which having the sound of the saxophone playing whilst our guests looked out over the castle terrace overlooking the lake was truly magical. I walked down the aisle to Only Me by John Legend which had quite a few people in tears. Steve then played during our aperitif and during dinner. I had comments from many guests saying how nice Steve was and how much they enjoyed his music. An added bonus to the day was when Steve played alongside our wedding band for our first dance. This was an added surprise and got everyone up dancing. Thanks very much for that. I would very much recommend Steve to play at your wedding for that special added touch."

"Sue was amazing! All our guests loved her, the music was great and she was able to read the audience to ensure she played the right type of music. This is the 2nd time we've hired her and I would happily hire her again in the future!"

"Mel sang at my 40th birthday Soiree. Mel was brilliant. Open and flexible with regards to communication, song requests, adapting to timing of the event when on set and the audience. Mel has such a beautiful voice and sound. Knows how to work a crowd. All my guests and I really enjoyed her performance. I 150% recommend."

"Jacqui and family “Richard, thank you SO much for making yesterday extra special with your presence! Everyone enjoyed the piping so much! Richard played at my Mother’s funeral. The performance was professionally done and made the day extra special. Everyone who came enjoyed not only the music, but the presentation of Richard himself, who looked very smart in traditional piper dress! Richard himself was kind, sympathetic and organised, only wanting brief details before delivering a performance that lifted an otherwise incredibly emotional day for us all.
