Four trumpets and four trombones playing a full arrangement will trip a limiter set below about 95dB whether or not anything is plugged in, and turning the PA down does not fix it, because the PA was never the source.

Ask your venue for the exact decibel figure before you enquire. Above 95dB most big bands will be fine. Below that, be upfront with the band. The workable answers are a reduced line-up with fewer horns, a quieter style of playing throughout, or a different room. None of them are things to discover on the night.
