Services for Musicians and Bands

Alongside performers, the directory lists companies that provide services to musicians and bands. If you cannot find what you need here, it is worth getting in touch, as new providers are added regularly. The most common services are set out below.

Equipment and instrument hire

Newer bands often hire rather than buy, and PA and lighting hire companies rent out quality sound and lighting without the big outlay. Piano hire is also available where a client or venue wants a specific instrument such as a baby grand, delivered, tuned and later collected.

Studio, arrangement and safety services

For recording, a producer or sound engineer can organise a studio and handle mixing and mastering, while a string arranger can write and record string parts to lift a track. Most venues also ask for equipment to be PAT tested for electrical safety, which a certified tester can carry out with a visual inspection and a testing machine, providing a certificate afterwards.

Getting more work

Musicians looking for more bookings can also list with an entertainment agency, which promotes its acts to couples, corporate bookers and event planners in return for a share of the fee.
