Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We aim to be as low-maintenance as possible. To give you the best performance, we generally require the following:

Space: A minimum performance area of approximately [e.g., 5m wide x 3m deep]. We are happy to squeeze into smaller spaces if necessary, but this allows us to perform comfortably.

Power: At least two standard 13-amp power sockets dedicated to the band, located within 5 meters of the stage area.

Setup Time: We require 90 minutes to load in, set up, and "soundcheck" (test our volume). If you need us set up earlier in the day, just let us know!

Parking: Secure parking for4 vehicles (cars/vans) for the duration of the event.

A "Changing Space": Somewhere private for the band to change into stage wear and store our bags/instrument cases (a lockable room is ideal).

Hospitality: Access to soft drinks/water and, if we are performing over a long evening, a hot meal is always greatly appreciated!

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, absolutely! We are a self-contained act, meaning we provide everything needed for the performance. Our quote includes:

Professional PA System: High-quality sound suitable for up to 1,000 guests.

Stage & Dancefloor Lighting: A mix of wash lights and dynamic effects to create the right atmosphere.

Backline: All our own instruments and amplifiers.

All our equipment is PAT tested for safety, and we carry full Public Liability Insurance (PLI), which most venues require as a standard."

What information do you require about a venue?

To ensure we provide the best possible sound and a smooth setup, we usually look for these five key details about a venue:

Performance Space: A rough idea of the stage or floor area size so we can plan our layout.

Power Access: Ideally, we need at least two independent 13-amp sockets within 5–10 meters of the performance area.

Loading & Parking: Is there a dedicated loading bay or a 'back door' near the stage? Also, is there on-site parking for 4 vehicles?

Sound Constraints: Does the venue have a 'Sound Limiter' installed? (If so, don't worry—we can easily adapt our volume to suit it).

Point of Contact: The name of the venue manager or event coordinator so we can sync up on arrival times.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, absolutely! We provide music throughout the entire event so there is never any 'dead air.' We offer two ways to handle this:

Standard Playlist Service (Included): We provide a curated Spotify playlist to run before, between, and after our live sets. You are more than welcome to send us a link to your own favorite playlist, or we can use our tried-and-tested 'party' mix.

Pro DJ Service (Optional Add-on): If you want a more interactive experience, we recommend a 'Live DJ' who can take requests on the night, make announcements, and actively mix tracks to keep the energy high when the band isn't on stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The best venue had to be the large circular ballroom at a hotel in Sussex. We played the centenary concert for Bentley drivers so there were very old beautiful classic Bentleys parked around the ballroom.
But the best gig is one where the connection to the audience is instant. We love venues that have character but its the people that make the gig! And we have had some amazing ones!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

As a group, it’s hard to beat Fleetwood Mac. Their song writing is timeless, and their ability to appeal to every generation is something we try to emulate in our own sets. Also Stevie Wonder - some great tunes which go down well with guests.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

With a foundation built on the high-energy London circuit, The Covered has evolved from local favourites into an award-winning headline act. Since 2015, we have transitioned from intimate clubs to the UK’s biggest stages, including major festivals, high-profile corporate galas, and luxury weddings. Our years of experience mean we don't just play a set; we read the room and deliver a flawless performance every time."

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love weddings and we also thrive at milestone birthday parties. People are there specifically to let loose, and we love the challenge of 'reading the room.' Our favourite events are the ones where we start with a cool, soulful vibe during drinks and end with every single guest shouting the lyrics of the final encore. We’re all about that high-octane finish!"

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally need 90 minutes before the performance to set up. We normally perform 3 x 40 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit our audiences best.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We are very happy to play outside, provided the British weather behaves! To ensure the safety of the band and our electrical equipment, we just require adequate overhead cover (like a gazebo or marquee) and a stable power supply. As long as we’re protected from direct sunlight and potential rain, we’re ready to rock the garden.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We find the best nights happen when we work together! While we have a tried-and-tested repertoire designed to keep the dancefloor full, we absolutely welcome your input. Most clients like to look through our song list and highlight their 'Must-Haves' and their 'Please Don’t Plays.' We’ll use those as our anchors and then fill in the gaps by 'reading the room' on the night to ensure the energy stays high.

We also love to learn one 'special request' per event usually a first dance or a favourite song that isn't already on our list to make the night truly personal.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Based on our recent 10/10 reviews, here is what you can expect when you book us:

Expert Energy: Clients frequently mention that 'the dance floor wasn’t empty for a second' and that guests were 'begging for encores.'

Tailored Experience: We are described as 'brilliant at tailoring the music' to make the night feel 'very us.'

Professional & Stress-Free: Reviewers highlight our 'great communication' and 'extremely professional team,' including our dedicated sound engineer.

Adaptability: As one client put it, 'even though the rain came... they kept the dance floor full!'"

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

We strive to make sure the line-up you see is what you get on the night. We do have pre-auditioned 'dep' musicians available in case a band member falls ill or is unavailable. As a professional band, our reputation means everything so you can be confident that all of our players are of a very high level.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Don’t worry! We have performed at scores of events and we know that live schedules rarely run exactly to the minute. We are very accustomed to 'flexing' our start times to suit the flow of your evening.

Here is how we handle it:

On the Day: If your speeches run 20 minutes late or the buffet takes a little longer, we simply shift our sets to match. Our priority is making sure we play to a full room when the energy is right. If things go on longer, we can usually arrange an overtime rate on the night (subject to the venue's license) so the music doesn't have to stop!

Communication: We stay in close contact with you (or your venue coordinator) throughout the night so we know exactly when to hit the stage.

The only thing we generally cannot change is the venue’s licensed 'curfew' (the time the music must stop). As long as we stay within the venue's finish time, we are happy to adapt!"

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. We usually play 2 sets of 60 minutes each with a short break in between. We can play Spotify playlists when we are not on stage, eg background music whilst guests eat and more lively stuff for those who have the energy when we have finished. But we recommend a DJ if you’d like to keep the party going!

We have a wide range of ages attending—will your music suit everyone?

We have a wide range of ages attending—will your music suit everyone?
Absolutely! Our setlist is specifically designed to be 'multi-generational.' We bridge the gap by mixing timeless classics from the 60s and 70s with modern chart-toppers and 90s/00s nostalgia. Whether it’s your 80-year-old grandmother or your 18-year-old cousin, we make sure there is a 'must-dance' moment for everyone in the room.

Our venue has a noise limiter—can you still perform?

Our venue has a noise limiter—can you still perform?
Yes. We are very experienced with sound-limited venues. We use [e.g., high-end digital modelling amps and a controlled drum setup which allows us to produce a 'full-band' sound at a volume that won't trip the power. We’ll even coordinate with your venue manager beforehand to ensure we stay within their specific decibel limits.
