Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

For our quartet, we need a performance space of 3 sq metres and less for the trio and duo. We do not require power points or electric as we are an acoustic ensemble.
Parking for up to 3 cars. Soft drinks and somewhere to store cases etc whilst performing.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We’re completely self contained and do not require a PA system as we are an acoustic ensemble

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

What do you wear?

Our usual attire for formal concerts and weddings/functions is elegant black for ladies, DJ for men, which is traditional amongst quartets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We have played at so many events and particularly beautiful wedding, including in the grounds of Blenheim Palace, The Shard and also for a charity event at a hospice near Luton attended by the Prince and Princess of Wales.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We are primarily classically trained musicians so our main original influences are from that genre. However, Element Strings have a broad musical spectrum and really enjoy and now specialise in a whole range of music, playing anything and are particularly noted for providing the "Bridgerton" vibe. :)

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We formed our String Ensemble back in 2014 mainly to rehearse regularly to provide concerts in our local area. We enjoyed working together and decided we could offer more, and so our gigging began. We still rehearse to perform concerts and that is a strength in our particular group.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are our favourite! The guests are always happy and often comment on the huge variety of music we offer and our professionalism.

What is a String Quartet?

A string quartet consists of two Violins, a Viola and a Cello

How do I book?

You can contact us through the Contact & Book Us page linked here.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive 45 minutes before our start time, to set up. We normally perform 2 x 50 minutes over 2 hours, but we’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade/shelter to protect our valuable instruments.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn specific songs before the event. The clients are welcome to pick any music from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous describe us as professional, friendly and highly talented musicians who provide a wide range of music from different genres

Do you play outside?

We are very happy to play outside for you, however, British weather can pose problems at certain times of the year and we need to protect ourselves and our valuable instruments! A gazebo, awning, covered area or doorway would be preferable, so it may be worth checking with the venue to see if these are available should they be needed. We are able to bring our own gazebo if required.

How long do you play for?

Usually we take bookings of between 1 and 5 hours - we do not formally have a limit on timings.

Do you play at different venues during one booking?

Yes, we have travelled between venues during one booking. If this is required it would be included in the total timing of the booking, details of distance and route would be required prior to the event
