About / Biography

I'm Jude, a professional musician, composer and arranger from the West Midlands. I play with a characteristic freedom and ingenuity, reinventing familiar melodies or performing faithful renditions rich in groove.

I studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and have worked in live music ever since. I have performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, and have played across England as a solo pianist, with duo partners or in bands.

My skillset as a composer is my secret weapon. As I play, songs melt seamlessly into one another, and every note is carefully placed to match the energy of the event. Smooth jazz flows into sweet ballads; lively blues builds into a crowd pleasing pop classic - your music taste is reflected in the live soundtrack to your event.

For couples, the sound of your wedding might be the thing you care most about - I will work with you to ensure that you can spend your special day listening to the music you love.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I require a small stage area of 2.5m x 1.5m, with access to 2 x 13 amp power sockets.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I bring a small PA as standard, and can scale up to a larger system to suit a larger venue. Lighting is not included, but can be added as an extra.

What information do you require about a venue?

I need to know whether the route from the parking location to the performance area is level access. If the venue is outside, I will need to be undercover or for there to be a suitable backup location indoors.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I am happy to provide a playlist service through my speakers, either from my own playlist or yours.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I have performed as part of a large event at the Royal Albert Hall, which was a very special moment.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My playing is influenced by the piano legends of the 20th Century - Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Billy Joel and many more. Currently I can't get enough of Bruno Mars, and whilst I have a different opinion on this every day of the week, I think the greatest song of all time might just be Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears - such a great groove, and I love getting stuck into it in the middle of a set!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been gigging since I was a teenager, and having studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, I have been working in live music ever since.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love to be a part of someone's special day. It's an honour to be able to underscore some of the most precious seconds of someone's life, and to know that the notes you are playing are enriching a memory being made in real time, so it has to weddings for me.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

For background or cocktail piano sets, I usually play 1 to 3 hours, with short breaks throughout. I will arrive an hour in advance to set up. For duo sets with a singer, you can expect 2 jam-packed 45 minute or 3 30 minute sets, and an hour and a half built in for set up.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I'm happy to play outside undercover at any time, and if not covered, I'm happy to play if there is a backup option indoors. I do require access to power.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I have a wide selection of genres that I can choose from, so the general musical direction of the performance is completely up to you, and I'll provide a set of tunes that suit your taste. And if someone asks me 'do you know any...', I'm normally able to oblige with something that fits the bill!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous clients praise the apt selection of songs, appropriately gauging the tone of the event and creating a smooth, atmospheric backing to their event.
