About / Biography

Lucy Gray is a professional singer and experienced busker, bringing warmth and atmosphere to every kind of setting, from high end restaurants and beach front hotels, to stations, high streets and community spaces.

Lucy is more than happy to curate the perfect letlist to suit your event. Whether you're after some soft atmospheric background music for an elegant corporate function, a bunch of strummy upbeat singalongs for a street party or wedding reception, or the perfect vocal for a magical aisle walk for your wedding, Lucy has you covered.

A bit more about Lucy...

When not attending private venue bookings across the south east, you’ll often find Lucy busking under the iconic London Eye on the Southbank, or in various central London stations including Waterloo, London Bridge and Charing Cross as part of the Mayor of London’s ‘Busk in London’ scheme, in partnership with Network Rail. You may even have passed by her singing closer to home in Bromley high street.

Lucy’s previous work includes a residency at The Ivy Cafe in Wimbledon, repeat bookings at venues on London’s Fulham Road, in Maidstone and on Brighton seafront, to name a few, aswell as taking her live music to the local Living Well Foodbank whenever possible.

Alongside performing, Lucy has a passion for songwriting and poetry, and is currently working on her own original music, which is set for release later this year, so do keep an eye on her social media platforms for updates on her next steps as an original artist.

Having grown up between London and Cornwall, Lucy embraces a ‘between city and sea’ identity tagline, which continues to mould her creativity and style, and her desire to connect with likeminded others through music and lyrics.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Due to also being a professional busker in central London, I have a fully portable, battery powered equipment setup comprising of high quality PA speaker, microphone and stands etc.
I require NO MAINS POWER for my performance and approximately 2m square of space for a comfortable pitch placement.

* Mains power may be required if you choose to have a Spotify playlist playing between sets for a long period of time at a high volume, which would drain the speaker battery.
In this case, access to a standard mains plug socket would be required.
Let me know if the performance pitch is outside or far away from the mains plug socket so I can ensure to bring the necessary extension leads.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I am completely self-contained for sound, but do not provide lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

A fully address and postcode will be required to reach your venue, as well as additional detailed directions if in a more obscure or remote location.
Please also ensure to provide details for accessible parking to unload kit and for the duration of my performance time (preferably free or cost in quotation).

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can absolutely play a Spotify playlist of your choice between sets.

See 'Technical Requirements' box above for how that may affect the need for a mains plug socket, rather than a fully portable set up.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

3 month weekly residential booking singing at The Ivy in Wimbledon. It was a wonderful opportunity in the most beautifully elegant and high end environment. It was an honour and a pleasure to be their chosen live singer.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I could never choose a greatest song of all time, as I simply have too many!
But I love anything by Eva Cassidy and The Carpenters, alongside a heavy dose of old school soul, such as Lionel Richie and Luther Vandross.
Not forgetting my shameless love of all things Disney and Musical Theatre - So everything across the board!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been singing all my life, and spent my early career as a nanny known as 'Lucy Poppins' due to my tendencies to sing 24/7 with the children I cared for. I started out with busking in central London which grew my performing confidence hugely and very quickly. From there I secured a number of contacts and connections and some great venue bookings such as The Ivy, and a private members' club in Fulham Road.... and it's simply grown each season. And still busking!

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love playing at every kind of event, but my favourites are either bustling outside social gatherings (busking, community events, weddings etc) or the complete opposite at beautiful high end restaurants and hotels.
I love the contrast of both!

Let me know if the performance pitch is outside or far away from the mains plug socket so I can ensure to bring the necessary extension leads.

My setup and soundcheck can be extremely quick, in little as 15 minutes if in a situation that may be tight for space and timing.
However, I usually like to arrive with plenty of time to view the

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely!

I just need a flat surface (preferably hard standing, but not vital), and some shelter if the weather forecast looks dubious.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients are welcome to choose a setlist for the event from my provided repertoire.

I am very happy to learn specific songs for the occasion upon request. However as I use backing tracks, any new songs will be subject to the ease of finding/producing a suitable accompaniment track for the event, and the time and cost involved in doing so, which will be reflected in the overall quotation.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

I've had the word "Magical' used a number of times! :-)
