Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Parking:
A space for a vehicle must be provided close to the venue for loading in and out of the equipment, and either onsite or offsite parking must be possible during the performance.

Power:
A minimum of 2 power sockets will be required at least 15m from the performance space.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, I provide my own PA system and a basic light rig as standard for all packages. Advanced lighting options are also available.

What information do you require about a venue?

I need to know the venue address, or preferably the W3W coordinates. As well as any noise restrictions or limits enforced by the venue.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes. I provide Spotify background music for up to 60 minutes before the first live set, during the breaks and up to 30 minutes after the final live set.

How much time do you need to set up and pack down?

Setting up takes approximately 60-90 minutes and packing down takes around 45 minutes. I'm getting quicker with every gig I do.

Is WIFI access required for the Playlist DJ service?

Preferably yes, as it will make it much easier for me to fulfil your guests song requests on the night, but if there is limited or no internet access in the form of WIFI or mobile data I have thousands of hours of offline Spotify playlists saved as a backup. So the music can go on regardless.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I've been extremely fortunate to have been invited to perform at a couple of weddings on the island of Hvar, Croatia. To play to a packed crowd overlooking the sunset by the sea was a real pinch me moment.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Too many to name! But if I had to pick a favourite who has inspired me the most it would be Tim McIlrath from Rise Against. They were my introduction to alternative music which set me on the path to where I am now.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been gigging relentlessly since I left school many years ago. Since then I've performed solo and in bands in near enough every local dive bar, pub, village hall, gig venue, a couple of holiday rentals, a few fields and on one particular occasion, a working dairy farm.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love to perform at any event where the people in attendance are there to have a good time!

How to we book you to play at our event?

If you are happy with your quote and you would like to proceed with a booking, I have a very simple 2 step booking process:

• Step 1 - I will send you a link to a performance contract via Signeasy. You will be able to review and sign the contract using your mobile device, tablet or computer by following the email link. You will receive a copy to retain for you records once the contract has been completed.

• Step 2 - The next step is to confirm the booking with a 20% deposit transfer. I will then invoice you for the remaining payment, which can be paid at any time up until 30 days prior to the event.

How far are you willing to travel?

I cover the whole of the UK and Europe. Travel expenses are calculated at 45p per mile, with the first 30 miles free without charge. However, simplified fees are typically provided to offer a rounded quote price.
For events conducted outside of the UK, you will be required to cover the following expenses if they are applicable - fuel, flights, accommodation, parking, vehicle hire, airport transfers, international work/travel documents, sound system hire and food and drink expenses for the agreed duration of my visit. It sounds like a lot, but I will always go well out of my way to find the most reasonable and affordable prices.

Do you have Public Liability and PAT certificates?

Yes, a copy of my PLI and PAT certificates can be produced upon request.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Bank transfer is the preferred method of payment.

How far in advance should I contact you?

Typically at least 3 months notice is required, but I can sometimes accommodate last minute bookings.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Standard equipment setup time and soundcheck for both Solo and Duo options usually takes no longer than 90 minutes.

Performance Times:
90 minutes, 2x45 minutes, 2x 1 hours, 3x 45 minutes, or customised to your schedule.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely! Open air gigs often have that extra special atmosphere. However, I always recommend there has to be a plan B in case the weather decides to turn.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

My clients are more than welcome to browse through my repertoire of around 300 songs and highlight their favourites.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

The overwhelming majority people who leave reviews say that they couldn't be happier with the experience. I am extremely proud to say that I have maintained a constant 5 star review rating throughout my career as a self employed musician.

Can you perform outdoors without access to power?

Yes, I can hire a battery powered sound system for an additional £20 hire charge for events that have no power sockets within 15m of the performance area. I am more than happy to perform open air events, providing that there is some form of canopy or shelter on standby, just in case.

Can I request a song that is not in your repertoire?

Yes of course, if the song(s) are to be played during the wedding ceremony or for the first dance then I will learn them at your request for no additional cost. For all other special song requests I charge £50 per song which covers the time spent learning them.
