Matthew Bason is a versatile pianist, vocalist and organist bringing live music to weddings, restaurants, hotels, private celebrations and concert venues. His repertoire combines jazz and Latin-jazz standards, Great American Songbook classics and favourites from the 1950s to the 2000s, including pop, rock ’n’ roll, country and musical theatre.

Whether you’re looking for relaxed café-style music, elegant instrumental piano or lively piano and vocals, Matthew adapts his performance to suit your audience and occasion. Familiar songs, creative arrangements and a natural rapport with listeners are at the heart of his approach.

Performing since 1994, Matthew has appeared throughout the UK, mainland Europe, the USA and Canada, as well as undertaking two organ concert tours of Australia and New Zealand. His experience spans intimate dining settings, wedding celebrations, theatre stages and concert halls.

His past residencies include The Savoy and The Connaught in London, Sopwell House in St Albans, The Rubens at the Palace in Westminster, Kettering Park Hotel and Spa, and Althorp House in Northamptonshire. He is currently one of the resident pianists at The Quod, Oxford, and one of the resident musicians at The Musical Museum, Brentford.

Matthew is also a UK Brand Ambassador for Yamaha and plays keyboards and sings with Edison Lighthouse. Alongside his piano and vocal work, he has an extensive background in theatre and electronic organ performance, bringing orchestral colour, rhythmic variety and a sense of showmanship to his concerts.

Ideal for wedding ceremonies, drinks receptions, dining and occasions where the music should create atmosphere while allowing conversation to flow.

Piano & Vocals

Jazz, swing, Latin-jazz and Great American Songbook favourites sit alongside pop, rock ’n’ roll, country and songs from across the decades. Matthew can keep things mellow and understated or bring a brighter, more upbeat feel as the occasion develops, shaping the mix around the audience.

Organ Performances

Concerts on theatre, electronic and classical pipe organs, drawing on a wide repertoire and years of experience as a concert organist. Organ music is also available for weddings, funerals and other services.

A FLEXIBLE, PERSONAL APPROACH

Matthew is a self-accompanying musician who can perform on a suitable venue piano or provide his own digital piano, keyboards and sound system. His setup can be tailored to the space and type of performance, from straightforward solo piano to a fuller keyboard sound using his Yamaha Genos 2 system.
