A professional woodwind artist covering a plethora of genres of music. Whether you're into Big Band swing, pop hits, ambient soundscaping, neo-soul, straight-ahead jazz, house or techno, Dave has been there and played it, always striving to push against the walls of what is possible with a sax. He always puts boundless energy into his performances, and his greatest strength is how easily that energy infects the audiences that he plays to.
Dave is in particularly high demand as an Ibiza sax player accompanying either DJs or his own backing tracks. To this he brings virtuosic playing, energetic improvised performances and a knack for getting crowds partying with tantalising hooks and rhythmic ideas. For events with a slower pace, Dave can effortlessly soothe crowds with poignantly played ballads or smooth jazz and soul, through a battery powered PA system if required.

What is Hip
I need a minimum of 3 square meters of space, and ideally a parking space. I can perform completely self-contained on battery power for up to three hours if required! After that a plug socket would be necessary.
I can bring a PA system suitable for up to 250 guests, and very basic party lights.
Whether power and rain cover (if applicable) are available, whether there are any restrictions on amplified noise, and the capacity of the room I am performing in (if applicable)
Yes, I can provide a playlist service. I'm more than happy to collaborate on the songs you'd like performed therein if you would like to! Breaks in my performance, and a few minutes either side, are free of charge. An additional hourly rate may apply for playlist services far outside the range of times that I will be performing saxophone.
I think "best gig" has to be a very emotional last performance with my university Big Band, underneath Concorde in Patchway, Bristol. I had been running the group for the last three years and had formed some life-long friendships there, so it was an absolutely brilliant send-off for me.
My most prestigious venue? A showcase at the Royal Albert Hall! A big band set to an audience of over 2000 minors and accompanying guardians, including some solo features.
I've been inspired by a huge variety of saxophonists and other musicians over the last decade, although my strongest recent influence has to be Shabaka Hutchings! His work with "The Comet is Coming" has been stellar, and something I aspire to replicate.
"Greatest song of all time" is an incredibly challenging prompt to answer, but, I think a great contender is "Shofukan" by Snarky Puppy. It seamlessly blends so many different genres under one song, and the musicianship is of course fantastic throughout.
I'm really lucky to have had experience playing almost every genre of music under the sun! I originally found my voice on the instrument through district Big Bands and fronting my own sextet, but since then I've performed in a huge variety of groups, all the way from Springsteen to ambient electronica.
Any event where I am dancing with the audience! I absolutely love the crowd interaction aspect of my performances, and it's really amazing to see them enjoying themselves to the fullest when I'm on the dance floor with them.
I aim to arrive at hour in advance of any performance, and normally aim for earlier still to make sure that this is consistently the case no matter the travel conditions.
Set up / pack down: roughly 30 minutes
Yes! I can perform on battery power if this is required. I would politely ask for some kind of cover to be provided if there is any risk of rain.
You can pick as many songs as you'd like from my songlist, in addition to two songs of your choosing for me to learn!
In one word, that would be ENERGY! Most audiences comment in some way that my playing makes them feel 'alive' in that special way that's difficult to put your finger on.
