About / Biography

He completed with Distinction the Guildhall Artist Master's in Collaborative Piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, studying under Carole Presland and Bretton Brown, and is now continuing his training there in the highly selective Advanced Artist Diploma programme.

Paul works with singers, choirs and instrumentalists across a wide and diverse repertoire. As a native French speaker, he has a particular affinity for French mélodie and German Lieder, sharpened by a five week intensive at the Franz Schubert Institut in Austria, where he studied with artists including Elly Ameling, Helmut Deutsch, Roger Vignoles and Julius Drake. He was a finalist for the Jubilee Accompaniment Prize two years running (2025 and 2026) and has recently been selected as a Britten Pears Young Artist for 2026-2027.

He has repetiteur experience through his work at Guildhall, including as pianist and repetiteur for scenes from Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande and La Cenerentola, and brings the same rehearsal discipline to opera and musical theatre coaching. His choral background runs deep too, from twelve years touring internationally with Les Petits Chanteurs de Laval as a child to singing with the McGill Conservatory Singers in Montreal.

He has performed at some of the UK's leading venues, including Wigmore Hall and Milton Court, alongside international appearances in Belgium, Austria and Canada. His instrumental work spans repertoire for cello, flute and violin, including performances with his chamber trio, Latitude Trio, and he offers accompaniment for auditions, exams and competitions.

I also have a grand piano at home in Walthamstow for rehearsals and small events

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The best venue I have performed at is Wigmore Hall, where I took part in a Fauré Song Masterclass with Malcolm Martineau. For best gig, I would highlight the Boulanger Sisters recital, a programme of vocal and piano works by Nadia and Lili Boulanger that I curated and performed at St Pancras Clock Tower. It remains one of the most fulfilling projects I have undertaken as a musician.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

1 hour prior to event at least for warm up

Are you happy to perform outside?

yes if keyboard provided

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

to be discussed, I am a fast sight reader

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients and collaborators most often describe my playing as sensitive, precise and deeply attuned to the text and to my fellow performers. As a native French speaker with a strong grounding in the Lied and mélodie traditions, I am frequently praised for the linguistic nuance and stylistic insight I bring to vocal repertoire. Colleagues also note my reliability and calm presence in rehearsal and performance settings, whether accompanying a soloist, coaching a choir or serving as repetiteur for opera and musical theatre.
