This multi-instrumental duo place captivating female vocals and rhythmical guitar into a classic and contemporary set – along with a few songs you may have forgotten you loved! Adding into this mix percussion, a ukulele and cigar box guitar, The Beat Ponies take on both a modern and vintage vibe that will leave you smiling!
The Beat Ponies produce a larger sound that you may first suspect, with Dan’s guitar style building on a unique sense of rhythm created by the percussive sounds of his stomp box and foot tambourine. This provides a rich backdrop to Mari’s characterful, attention-grabbing vocal and is often combined with her ukulele, cigar box guitar or hand percussion to increase The Beat Ponies’ soundscape once again.
Dan and Mari have years of combined experience in professional music, having performed in different line-ups at various events and festivals. Their broad and growing repertoire (from Gloria Gaynor to Green Day, and beyond), delivered through strong musicianship with a dash of fun, has garnered them a growing reputation as a must-have act to keep audiences singing and dancing all night!
Highlights:
• Varied repertoire of songs from all decades, right up to the present day!
• Ideal for laid-back ambient sets or upbeat and energetic evening performances
• Will learn your first dance song or special request wherever possible (with prior notice and provided our style and line-up allow it)
• Can provide pre-programmed Spotify playlists between live sets
• Use of various percussive elements makes The Beat Ponies perfect for venues with tricky sound limiters whilst still generating a full sound and upbeat vibe
• Happy to dress according to the theme or colour scheme of your event where possible

Yes! We come fully self-contained with our own PA system and lights. We use two 8’’ active speakers (1000 watts each), which are sufficient for most wedding and party venues. If your event is going to take place in a very large space with a substantial audience, please let us know, so we can gauge whether a more powerful set-up would be advisable (this can be hired in).
Yes! We can provide a Spotify playlist and play it out through our PA system during the break(s) between our live sets. If you have your own playlist, you are welcome to send us a Spotify link, or you can plug your phone/tablet/laptop into our mixing console (all it needs is a standard headphone port). If you would like the background music to continue after the live sets are finished, please let us know in advance.
Typically, we aim to arrive 1 to 1.5 hours before the arranged start time to allow plenty of time for loading in and setting up. (If you require an early arrival/set-up, please just let us know.)
Performance times and set lengths are flexible to fit around your schedule. Most frequently, we’re asked for 2 x 45-minute sets or 2 x 60-minute sets, but if you have something different in mind or require more/less playing time, please just let us know.
We are happy to perform outside but would ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. Cover would need to be provided in the event of inclement weather.
We usually get in touch with clients approx. 3 weeks before the event date to go through all final details and logistics. At this time, we can also supply an up-to-date repertoire list from which clients can choose a number of favourites for us to build our sets around.
We’d love to! We’ll do our very best to learn your request – genre and instrumentation permitting. Please give us a few weeks’ notice, so we can schedule plenty of rehearsal time to get your song ready for your event.
Absolutely! Please note the mic is wired into our PA system, so access is only possible within the performance area.
Yes! Dan is not only a musician but also runs a commercial recording studio in the heart of Cheshire, so if you’d like us to learn a special song for you (be it your first dance song or the one you walk down the aisle to), we can provide a professional studio recording of your request after your event. This can be made available to your videographer if you wish for it to be part of your wedding film. Please give us a shout to chat through the details.
