A high ceiling is good for pipes, outside is perfect. And sunshine please.
I require no amplification.
Reversed parking is a bonus. I need somewhere to warm up the pipes, usually in the car park but an indoor space is useful.

Yes. After all, bagpipes come from Scotland, where rain is part of everyday life! Light rain is usually no problem. In heavy rain or storms, it's better to move under cover: the guests are unlikely to want to stand outside in a downpour either. I adapt to the conditions on the day.
Every wedding is special and the grand halls around Suffolk and Norfolk are amazing to be in. My best gig was possibly introducing the orchestra at Snape Malting just after the Queen had passed, playing Sleep, Dearie Sleep.
Restricting this answer to bagpiping only, I'm influenced by Stuart Liddell.
I've played in jazz, folk and rock bands all my life. In piping I play with the Glenmoriston pipe band and started taking solo jobs in 2019. I've done many funerals, weddings, Burns nights and all sorts of corporate events.
Oddly, I find a funeral very rewarding. I fill a particular role that makes a huge difference to the mourners, and everyone is so grateful for my presence.
There are lots of opportunities to include bagpipes throughout your wedding day. Popular options include welcoming guests as they arrive; piping the bride or wedding party into the ceremony; piping the newly married couple out; playing during confetti or photographs; entertaining guests during the drinks reception; announcing and leading guests into the wedding breakfast; and performing later at the reception. Every wedding is different, so the performance can be tailored to your plans.
Not at all. Many of the weddings I play have no Scottish connection whatsoever. I'm not Scottish myself, although I often joke that I am on my father-in-law's side, which is actually true! Bagpipes add a real sense of occasion, and I often receive thank-you messages saying that guests were still talking about the pipes afterwards.
I like to be about 30 mins early to introduce myself and warm up the pipes. I can play solidly for 30 mins at a time, but this is normally spread out over the event as short sets of 3 or 4 tunes played together.
Yes, this is normally best for me.
We will discuss particular choices if you have any. I have plenty of suggestions to help you decide on major points, but I'm happy to just provide music from my experience. I can also learn a new tune if it's required and I have at least 2 weeks notice.
Here is a typical review:
Absolutely wonderful! It was exactly what we had hoped for, and our guests loved being welcomed to the church by the sound of the bagpipes.
I especially loved walking down the aisle to the bagpipes and being piped out as newlyweds afterwards - both moments felt so memorable. Thank you for helping make our wedding day so special. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend you!
