"What a fantastic time my guests and I had last night! The Black Velvet Band guys certainly know how to get a party going and my guests and I responded in the appropriate manner. It was the BEST party I have ever been to – and several guests asked if we can have another ceilidh soon."

"Wendy was superb from the first communication. Very efficient and on the day turned up an hour or so before start time to prepare. Wendy is a lovely person but fantastic Sax Player too, all our guests commented on how great she was and how lovely it was to arrive with Wendy playing in the background. Would definitely book her again and would thoroughly recommend her to anyone wanting some lovely background music. Great Job Wendy. Thanks Robbie and Caroline "

"Wow! Magenta strings played beautifully at one of our church fundraising evenings by candlelight. Everyone was blown away by the music and the atmosphere. We will definitely be asking them back for our 2026 fundraiser! "

"As a wedding venue we get to listen to a huge range of bands with prices varying from £500-£5,000. Sadly price has nothing to do -or so it seems- with professionalism, personality and ability! Jolly Polly and the Pirates is very much at the bottom end of this price spectrum, but very, very much at the top of the performance ratings! To sum them up? They are musicians with really nice personalities who have great technical ability and understanding of sound, mixing and the audience. On bass guitar and vocals is Polly, who is probably one of the most energetic singers we have come across, with great variations, presence and depth. On lead guitar (and keys) Jon has great technical skills and enthusiasm for his role in the band, and on drums (and occasionally keys at the same time!!) a drummer who actually loves his drums - at last someone who realises drums are an instrument, not an object to take out your aggression on, perhaps that is down to his experience and talent. Individually they are great - as a band they are awesome! - Certainly at the top of our list and always hoped for! Alpheton Hall Barns - Historic Suffolk Wedding Venue "

"A great professional band , who I have booked many times to play our outside stage in our large garden . Tom and the band always entertain our customers and are very popular. Great old and new songs that gets everyone up dancing and singing. Can’t wait for next time ?"

"I cannot rate this band high enough! They definitely got the party started. Great musicians, listened to what kind of music we wanted, and are absolutely lovely people. "Dear Sue Thank you and your group Scherzando for playing at my son's wedding. It was a wonderful day, in a wonderful setting, at Lilleshall Hall in the Duke of Sutherland suite and the music was perfect. As you know, my new daughter-in-law is Brazilian and her family were quite blown away by the whole day, so very different from how a wedding is conducted in Brazil and the beautiful music that you provided, quite stunned them, and added a very 'English' touch. We were particularly grateful for the 'extra' pieces you filled in with, when the bride was fashionably, if a little alarmingly 'late'. Also the wonderful care you took in talking over their choices and advising them on what would work best, at what point in the ceremony. If anybody is seeking to add that little something extra to their Wedding day, then I would certainly recommend that they engage you to play."
