Review Centre: Harpists

"I first heard Zoe play when my late wife and I stayed at our favourite hotel, The Wentworth, in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. We were both mesmerised by her talent. I was determined to re-live the experience and the hotel kindly helped to arrange one of Zoe’s regular evening performances at the hotel to coincide with my next visit. Needless to say, the evening was magical, even without my wife, and Zoe justifiably received deserved applause after every sublime melody, not only from the few other fortunate guests relaxing in the hotel lounge but also from diners in the adjoining restaurant. Zoe is both approachable and friendly, but above all she plays the harp with such subtlety and finesse. I now have three of her CDs and she also kindly emailed me a download copy of an earlier unavailable CD. What is more, Zoe has inspired me, at the age of 83, to take up the piano again, and I use many of her beautiful interpretations on the harp to help me; I play by ear whilst continuing on the long haul to teach myself to read music for a second time. The first occasion was with my long-suffering and patient piano teacher when I was a mere 8 years old but, alas, my piano playing will never match the dreamlike quality of Zoe’s amazing talent on the harp."

"Ruth was recommended to us when we started looking for a harpist to play at our wedding ceremony and she was fantastic! As a professional musician, Ruth has a wide and varied repertoire and she also offered to learn any favourites pieces we might have. We planned some beautiful music to play for our guests before the ceremony and Ruth was happy to discuss and advise on our choices – my only regret is that my Dad and I missed out on these before we arrived! We asked Ruth to play one of her own award-winning compositions for us all to sit and listen to during our ceremony. We chose this piece over Debussy, so that just shows what a talented musician we think Ruth is! It was perfect and one of my favourite moments of the whole day. Many of our guests commented on how much they enjoyed our ceremony and how beautiful and serene the room was when they arrived to Ruth playing. Ruth played an integral part in making our ceremony so wonderful. I had every confidence beforehand that she would work her magic musically and also be able to read the room and adjust her timings based on when my Dad and I arrived and how long it took for us all to enter. I wanted to walk really slowly so that we could hear her play for longer but I’m sure I didn’t I was so excited! Ruth had a smile throughout the whole wedding and was a joy to have there with us. We’re looking forward to hearing her play again sometime soon!"

"Thank you so much for Saturday. We both cannot say enough how incredible you were. I had no idea (as I was getting ready and no one told me) that on the day so many things went wrong with entrance timings etc but Donna and Zayd both told me you were amazing about it all. Also you learnt the Arabic Song beyond perfect, especially in such a short space of time, but it's been an important traditional song since childhood for me, and you made it all happen, so I am forever grateful. "Lizzy responded promptly to our last minute request, communication was excellent and she completely fulfilled the brief, even though we wanted something she was unfamiliar with. She even offered to supply a recording as a keepsake. She is extremely talented, she plays and sings beautifully. I would not hesitate to recommend her."

She arrived well ahead of the time to ensure she wasn't late and called me in advanced. Highly talented and skilled Harpist and an elegant musician. Happy to recommend her to anyone.
