None, just a 1 m by 1 m space to play, and a cover if it is raining heavily to protect the pipes.
No, none needed.
Piping at Edinburgh Castle was pretty amazing, or Abbey Road Studios in the same room the recorded the Star Wars soundtrack.
It all started at my auntie's wedding when I was 12. From there, it grew organically, one booking leading to the next, until I had played at thousands of events across the UK. I am now lucky enough to do this full-time, which is something I am so grateful for.
What are your typical setup and performance times?
I arrive at least 30 minutes before I am needed, usually more. As a solo piper there is no setup required, so I am ready to play from the moment I arrive. Performance time is flexible and agreed in advance, whether that is a short processional, a 20-minute arrival set, or a longer reception performance.
Yes, completely happy to perform outside. Should it rain heavily, shelter ti protect the pipes is preferred.
Absolutely. I am happy to take requests and will always discuss song choices before the event. If there is something specific you want that is not in my current repertoire, and if it can be played on the pipes, I am happy to learn it. I know hundreds of tunes, so it is impossible to write them all down. I may well already know it!
Reliable, professional, and genuinely moving. Across weddings, funerals, and private occasions, guests consistently comment on the quality of the playing and the atmosphere it creates. Clients regularly mention that Glen is flexible with requests, easy to communicate with from first contact to the day itself, and that the bagpipes added something to their event they could not have imagined without. At funerals in particular, families describe the piping as respectful, perfectly judged, and deeply meaningful. The word that comes up most is unforgettable.
