Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Sailing the seven seas with our music has provided us with many incredible stories but funnily enough our fondest memory is of our grand return to the UK, where we performed our first ever gig at a pizza restaurant. Expectations were not high, in fact, we were utterly baffled as to what we were supposed to play. And yet 15 minutes in, we had a group of stags standing on the table singing breakfast at Tiffany’s!!!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We both have very different answers to this, coming into music from different backgrounds. Saul’s music hero is James Morrison and Jeff Buckley. Whereas Sammy absolutely loves Jennifer Hudson. And we agree the greatest song of all time is simply the best, Tina Turner!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Sammy and Saul both trained at the esteemed Brighton Academy and quickly became best friends. They found themselves constantly onstage singing iconic duets such as ‘ain’t no mountain high enough’ at many high profile events, including at the Reform club in London. After graduating, the logical steps was for them to start working together professionally. And thus SG music was born. Sammy and Saul have subsequently gone on an accidental tour of the UK, performing in venues all over the country.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

SG music love to perform upbeat, crowd pleasing numbers so any event with an audience keen to sing along and have a boogie is always a favourite.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally arrive an hour before the performance to set up and sound check. We are used to doing 3 x 45 min sets in a 3 hour period.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes but we ask for shade/cover please!

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We are happy to learn specific songs on request, usual limit of 5 songs - given that there is enough time to learn new material.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers would describe us as engaging, high energy and also always comment on how it’s clear we trained professionally.

Do you require any refreshments?

Access to drinking water please!
