Review Centre: Vintage Bands

"I booked Below the Border for my wedding evening party at a cricket club in Surrey. We wanted a 70s covers band because that was the time of our University days and the type of music we knew would appeal to our guests. Below the Border are simply sensational musicians and very good singers. They also had a new female harmony singer who was excellent. The band were extremely professional and courteous and I thoroughly recommend them. They got everybody up dancing and even learnt one of our favourite T-Rex songs especially for our party."

"We've seen Barrel House Vipers quite a few times in Bristol so were really keen to book them for a swing dance event with 90 dancers. Needless to say they were awesome. They're a fantastic band with hugely talented musicians who catered for a range of speeds for lindy hop, bal, blues and shag. We'd really love to have them back again and couldn't recommend highly enough! "

"What can I say? The band were incredible! Really easy to deal with before the day, and really made our evening celebrations special on the day itself. They read the crowd perfectly, and so many people were commenting on how much fun they were having. I'd book them again in a heartbeat!"

"Fleur was quite simply amazing!!! I booked her for my 50th birthday party, and wanted to add a chilled pre-party jazzy atmosphere which she did splendidly!! Her voice is stunning....I would not hesitate to recommend or book her again!!!"

"Fi has, rightly, a greatly praised voice, and this worked a treat in that environment. She possesses excellent technique & frequently went for complex lines and pulled them all off with aplomb. She has equally good dynamic sensibilities and used shifts of these with discretion for extra effect. Alex's playing mirrored this: skilled yet tasteful with generally chorded accompaniment when Fi was singing and when it came to his solos, the runs, though often improvised, served the song, not his ego. They have an empathetic understanding I think: not just in the interplay between voice & piano but also in their several duets & this was another element in the playfulness"

"We had a brilliant event and the artist you provided for us, Kai, was absolutely fantastic. Her costume/make up and band were exactly what we wanted for our 1940's themed party. Everyone took to the dance floor and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Thank you Last Minute Musicians and thank you Kai would definitely use both again in the future."

"Hearing you in New Orleans earlier this year was the premier musical treat we had during our week there. And yes, we bought you CD and hope to buy more and see you live again. If we are lucky, you will be in New Orleans this next March or we will be able to catch you in Bristol when we are in England next year. "booking swing gitan was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! the guys played during the drinks reception and I dare say it was one of the highlights of the day. Elliot was very professional throughout the booking process, which was quick and simple I've been a Django and manuche jazz music fan for a long time and seen some excellent players in Paris and Berlin and these guys were some of the best. HIGHLY recommended "
