Review Centre: Organists

"My wife Lorraine and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony at our small parish church. The organ was in need of maintenance so he brought his own keyboard and speaker system. We chose a range of music from contemporary melody to classical, and Mark fully demonstrated his versatility in his excellent performance, simulating piano, orchestral and organ as appropriate to great effect. He accompanied the hymn singing in a very accomplished way without dominating or following. He took a great effort to establish what we wanted in advance enabling him to fully complement what was for us and our guests a very intimate and unforgettable occasion. Mark proved to be very friendly and obliging and I would have no hesitation in recommending his services for any similar event."

"Gareth's an absolute gem! We were in desperate need to find an organist weeks before our wedding, as our previous organist had to cancel. I came across Gareth's details and luckily he was available. He came to visit us at my family home where my mum insisted on giving him some of her home made Limoncello :) and even after that he manage to wow us with his music skills, a true talent! "Thank you for providing the backround music for the Pride of Houghton Awards, which took place last night. The evening was a huge success and the Town Mayor, Councillor Laura Ellaway has asked me to pass on her sincere thanks to you. The Mayor particularly requested the songs from the shows and these were very much enjoyed by all. There were many excellent comments about the musical entertainment and the guests that attended the event included the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and the Mayor's from Luton, Dunstable, Sandy and Flitwick as well as members of the local community. "Sebastian played at our wedding October 2024 in West Sussex and provided a repertoire of chosen hymns and music for us. His experience, qualifications and background of the organ instrument was the reason why we chose him and we were not disappointed. I would highly recommend him for any type of service requiring a professional organist as his ability to bring happiness and joy to our wedding was appreciated by my husband and I along with our many guests."

"Gareth - dude , man what a guy ! Thanks a bunch again. Your music was amazing. It was a really good idea of yours to Skype to discuss what we wanted as we did not have a clue so you playing so many 100's of options live for us was absolutely brilliant. It was a real shame we could not meet you live until the day as we has such fun in that long Skype call and your humour and comments had us in stitches ! On the day your playing was exquisite as my Mother put it and Louise found herself entranced when she was meant to be doing the registers as she wanted to listen to the beautiful selection of John Rutter anthems that you had arranged specially as there was no choir. We cannot recommend this musician more highly for Gareth is one cool guy, lovely to work with, knows everything and plays with command, authority and sheer joy. "Mark’s music wrapped our celebration dinner in a happy cocoon of elegance and joyful memories . When my Dad started singing along to his favourite old songs I knew Mark was a winner. His remarkable versatility made the evening so vibrant with achingly beautiful classical pieces and romantic ballads and playful jazz and movie music favourites. Mark is charming and friendly and fun. My advice to myself next time is split the budget between chef and musician. Live music ? ? makes your heart soar. Thankyou Mark - You lifted our dinner out of the ordinary. We can’t wait to invite you back again. "

"Des has played in our Village church on several occasions now ... including a wedding and services with small and large congregations. His sensitivity and versatility enable him to perfectly meet the musical needs of any occasion. His encouraging and lively style made even a congregation of 14 feel to be part of a larger lively congregation; and his subtle use of his jazz background makes a traditional service sound fresh and exciting. "James accompanied our choir in a challenging French programme which included Durufle Gloria (Messe Cum Jubilo) and Poulenc Gloria. The organ was also a challenge, being a Victorian mechanical action with rear view mirror. James was unflappable in his approach. He was very easy to work with and put in an excellent performance which enhanced the singers with colourful registration and rhythmic energy. Thoroughly recommended. "

"Yesterday afternoon at the Limes Country Lodge in Birmingham, I had the great fortune to appear on the same bill as Mr Des George and I am still reeling from his spellbinding performance on the piano. Des must have dedicated his life be able deliver a performance that touched the heart of everybody present. He effortlessly played through the American Songbook, contemporary tunes as well as Christmas classics. I'm telling this man needs hardly any setup time. He merely walks in and reaches the unasailable masterclass of competence within minutes, leaving the audience bound by his magic until long after he plays the final note. Potential bookers Do not hesitate to book Des George. There is no risk whatsoever. Only Joy! :)"

"Gareth was the organist at a civic service at which my brother and I were asked to play trumpet. He met with us, liased with the organisers, provided suitable music and accompanied us. He took the lead with a keen sense of humour, made it fun but was always focused consequently the music at the service received nothing but praise. Subsequently I have practiced a couple of concertos and other works with him accompanying. He quickly and accurately picked up the music. It was a rewarding and enjoyable experience and I look forward to continuing working with him."
