Review Centre: Pianists (Classical)

"This July I had the joy of collaborating with Lewis Kingsley Peart on a recital of arias and songs at The Swiss Church, Covent Garden. The creative process with Lewis was a dream, and he is not only an incredibly skilled pianist but an open, aware, and gifted collaborator, too. The programme was heavy with quite challenging contemporary repertoire which he was able to learn under huge time constraints (he came to my rescue when I lost my pianist just a month before the recital!). He interpreted the Rorem and the Previn with as much ease and effortlessness as the Strauss and Weber. The Swiss Church is a very particular space to play in because of the immense reverberation, but Lewis took this in complete stride and adjusted each piece to fit the context of our performance space so sensitively. Lewis is professional, well prepared, calm, and efficient. He is an excellent communicator, musically and otherwise! He has a true gift, and though I did not know Lewis before this, I greatly look forward to working with him again in future!"

"Nigel played before, during and after the service (At the Cross & Stable Church). He was great to work with and spend time before the ceremony ensuring the playlist was right for us. He learnt some new music which we were really grateful for. He was also happy to accompany other musicians during the service. Our wedding and the following party were all in the same venue and the music was a lovely continuity between the different parts of the wedding. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him, and wished we'd had him play for even longer."

"Jon played during our wedding ceremony and reception drinks on the most beautiful, sunny September day. He really set the tone for the whole day, playing all of our favourite songs as our friends and family mingled and danced around. Jon took all of our requests on board and played them beautifully- even songs we submitted at the last minute! I'm so happy we booked him, it was perfect! Thank you Jon for making our day what it was! "

"During Last Minute Sirens's audition for Jonathan Dove’s 60th birthday concert, it was apparent that they were so well prepared and passionate about Dove’s music that I invited them to be the only duo presenting a whole song cycle. Their performance delighted both us in the audience and the composer. I found them charming to work with, respectful of the situation they were preparing for and wholly professional."

"Louise played wonderfully for us at my wife's sixtieth birthday party, she learned Debussy for us, and Joe Hishaishi's beautiful music written for studio Ghibli movies. This was interspersed with other classics by Burt Bacharach, Simon and Garfunkel and many others. Everybody absolutely loved her work, especially my wife, as it made her birthday family gathering really special. Being the first time we had all got together in several years Louise's beautiful piano playing provided an emotional heart to the event. I'm so glad she could attend. Thank you Louise."

"We booked Christian to play at our wedding whilst guests ate and milled about, as we thought he'd be perfect because his repertoire was filled with modern songs done with a jazz twist. We could not have been more thrilled with Christian. Not only was he super communicative leading up to the wedding, but he also allowed us to suggest some songs that he would learn for the big day. On the day Christian was fantastic. Everyone loved the vibe he created and his rendition of Taylor Swift's 'Shake It Off' went down particularly well! ;) I'd have no hesitation in recommending Christian to anyone wanting a fun, yet classy, pianist to play at their function. "We booked Nigel for our wedding at Plum Park Manor on 31st August after seeing him play at one of their open days. We originally booked for just the ceremony, but then added the drinks reception too. Just wow! I don’t think I have ever met anyone so talented, when he sent his repertoire over I was amazed at how many songs he knew how to play by heart 😳. The communication, booking and song choosing process was great. Nigel even filmed me walking down the aisle with him playing which I am forever grateful as this is something I will treasure forever! We asked if he could play some Oasis on the day as our guests were gutted they missed out on tickets 🤣 and this was no problem at all. Thank you so much Nigel you are a star! 🤩 100% recommend!"
