Review Centre: Party Bands

"We hired The Blue Suede Shoes for our wedding reception in May. We had already married abroad but wanted to have a larger gathering back in the UK where we could invite everyone. On the day we had about 150 people, from new-born's to a couple of ladies who were 90+. So the entertainment was quite important to get right. We didn't know what we were looking for at first, we knew we wanted live music, but we had to cater for all tastes and ages. The Blue Suede Shoes were the first band that both my (new) wife and I agreed on instantly. Thankfully they were available, even though they are Surrey based they were willing to travel deep into Kent. They have a generous play list to choose from, and even have a 'handbook' on their website with a few hints and tips about booking live music (not just restricted to weddings etc...). Importantly, they were willing to learn a couple of other tracks for us - one was our first dance and another was a Robbie Williams track which is one of my wife's favourites. From the start of the booking process Ben was very informative, clear and helpful at every stage. He was easily contacted and able to offer advice where needed. On the day of the reception the band turned up early and started to set-up without any fuss. We had a family friend DJ-ing in the same area in the evening and by the time I'd come over to greet them they'd already sorted everything out themselves. Our reception was in a marquee outside and the weather alternated between strong sunshine and torrential rain. Even though the band had a set-list, they seemed to be able to play appropriate songs for the moment. Playing 'Ain't no sunshine when she's gone' in the middle of torrential rain made everyone laugh and kept peoples spirits up. The band were also happy to ad-lib a bit for the bridal entrance which was very much appreciated. They were great musicians, willing to interact with the guests and very friendly indeed. We would recommend them without question, not just for a wedding but for any party or gathering that needed live music. They were loud enough to be heard, but not so loud that you had to shout over them. The music was perfect to sit and listen to, but energetic enough for many people to get up and dance or it and tap their feet to. Thanks for helping to make or reception so memorable. Matt & Kim"

"We had the The 3D Band play at our wedding and they were just out of this world. They really knew how to get the party going and the lead vocalist was entertaining and her voice was incredible. The dance floor was full the whole evening and the range of songs that were played suited everyone. Thanks again guys. "

"CANNOT RATE THIS BAND HIGH ENOUGH! ? ? ? ? ? Honestly we booked them years back when our wedding was due and they were so accommodating throughout our date change and using our very chaotic playlist! When I say this band will get your guests on your feet I mean it! Honestly would get married again just to use them …. Yes we do stalk them when they play at festivals!"

"The Covered performed at my wedding . I couldn't have asked for a better band - their performance was slick and energetic from start to finish. They covered modern songs, just as well as old classics. Every member of this band is a total star, each of them standing out in their own way. They performed some of mine and my husbands favourite songs, reducing us to tears with the emotional ballads and making every person in the 100 strong crowd dancing till the early hours with the faster numbers! I also appreciated John's organisation in the lead up to the day, he knew the best timings to suggest, the best order of songs, the best way to do the sound check. He leaves no stone unturned. Without a doubt, the best decision we made on our wedding day to have them perform. I could not recommend them more. 10/10."

"10/10 just doesn't do this band justice. Saw these at a family wedding a few years ago, hired them for a milestone birthday party and they didn't disappoint. Everything from booking, song selection, call before the day to confirm arrangements to the day itself was so easy. All of our guests commented on how good the band was, so good one of the guests have already booked for their wedding. I'm not sure I can say more other than fantastic and I hope to see them again soon, if you need a great band then look no further "

"House of Chords exceeded our already-high expectations. Professional and simple booking process. Friendly and clear discussion around set-lists and performance times. On the night they blew all guests away with their live performances. The atmosphere of our wedding was set by the band, who drew our guests onto the dance floor with a variety of genres but consistently outstanding playing! Their DJ sets are also perfect between and after the live sets + kept the party going through to the end! Thank you Mike and the band for everything."
