"Small Days guitarist Dave Merrick was the master of ceremonies, with vocalist Natalie Davies and sax player Brendan Whitmore joining him for the live songs. Dave unfolded the story at a well-judged pace, with records of Bessie Smith’s evocative voice even drawing applause from the attentive audience whenever they were included. The live contribution was important, too, and Natalie wisely steered away from imitating Bessie’s full-throated contralto to emphasis the singer’s lyrics with an upbeat swing on numbers like Need A Little Sugar and Send Me To The Electric Chair. Brendan Whitmore switched between soprano and tenor sax, the former particularly eloquent on Need A Little Sugar, the latter coming to the fore on T’Aint Nobody’s Business If I Do. All in all it was a satisfying journey through blues history with one of the great women who made the music what it became. "We booked Souls to play at our wedding reception after hearing the 5-piece play at a corporate event we attended. From our first phone call with Katy, through all the arrangements, and the performance, Souls were a great band to deal with; everyone knows how stressful organising a wedding can be, but the band and their music were never a worry – we would recommend Souls to anyone wanting great music and a stress- free process!"

"I can't rate this band more highly, would recommend to anyone wanting a band for a wedding (or party). We recently had them play at our wedding and were so happy with the 2 sets; the music is incredible, lead vocals AMAZING and their covers are perfect! They did a mix of songs that we liked and also some others we requested including rnb, 90s covers, 00s covers and put their own spin on it - I'd even say some of the songs were better than the originals!! Also very flexible and made a real effort to do a version of our first dance that was both a slow and a fast song. We had all the guests asking where we found them and how to book them, as they were so good. Got everyone up on the dancefloor! Thank you again for playing at our wedding and for a fantastic job, so pleased we booked."

"The Leathernecks were brilliant and absolutely rocked our wedding on 27.11.21. The band sound amazing - every single song was spot on and their set had the dance floor rocking throughout! The atmosphere was fantastic and the feedback from all our guests was excellent - everyone loved it. It was an awesome indie rock gig, just for our wedding! The band also learned our first dance and absolutely smashed it! The Leathernecks are top lads to deal with too. We would highly recommend for any event."

From playing background during the reception creating a wonderful atmosphere, to supplying the music between awards, choosing the perfect repertoire & level of interaction. "Dave was superb at our wedding. He played his heart (and his lungs) out, interacted very well with our guests and delivered great tone/volume - just what we wanted. He is extremely well organised too, and an absolute pleasure to deal with. If we renew our wedding vows in 10 yrs time, we know where to come. In the meantime, book Dave for your event as he is great."

"We booked this band for a charity event.From first contact they were very positive and understanding of the type of evening we wanted, and they delivered exactly as promised.They play a lovely mix of music and are obviously very talented musicians.They offer a sophisticated repertoire of swing era music and we would highly recommend them for this type of occasion.They are also a very nice group of people."

"A HUGE thank you to Mark and the band for playing at our wedding. Mark played saxophone during the post-ceremony drinks which everyone loved - especially my Nan! The band played at the evening reception and they were absolutely fantastic and had everyone up on their feet dancing - the dance floor was never empty while they were playing ! I’ve had many guests say to me how genuinely amazing the band were and that it was the best band they’d seen at a wedding! They made our wedding evening so much fun and I would definitely recommend this band for any large event. Thank you so much. "

"Carlo flew out to Italy for our wedding and absolutely smashed it. From the moment he started playing, you could feel the energy lift — it just added that extra spark you don’t get with standard playlists. What we loved most was how natural everything felt. He wasn’t just stood in one place playing, he was properly part of the day — walking around, interacting with guests, and building the atmosphere without ever feeling over the top. The transition into the evening was seamless too. Once the DJ kicked in and Carlo joined in on sax, it completely transformed the party. It went from relaxed wedding to full-on celebration, and the dance floor stayed busy all night. Also worth saying he was super easy to deal with in the lead-up, especially with it being a destination wedding. Everything was smooth, no stress at all. If you’re getting married abroad and want something that really stands out, Carlo is 100% the right choice."
