Colin Jones' 'Retro Flashback' celebrates the amazing music of the 70's, 80s and 90's with songs from Tears for Fears, Pet Shop Boys, Beautiful South, Phil Collins, Duran Duran, Culture Club, Madness, Aha and so many more.
The music was diverse but these songs are famous for their warm vocals, great solos and rich orchestration .. (then there's 'Lip up Fatty'!)
With over 30 years experience touring as a professional trumpet player and keyboard player, Colin has performed in venues of all sizes and with bands of all genres, in addition to recording with many artists.
The Retro Flashback show is a one man show that delivers that little extra magic - Carefully honed backing tracks are the basis of the 'band' but these are enhanced with live piano and synth for those luscious ballads and synth heavy dance tunes, as well as trumpet and an Electronic Wind Instrument which reproduces the greatest sax solos of the era.

Retro Flashback - requires up to 8 power sockets. Whilst expanders are provided it is important that there is power in the immediate vicinity of the performance area or stage.

Solo trumpet - can be performed almost anywhere, although if backing tracks are required, power must be available.
Always required:
Parking for one car, and a designated and secure place to change in, and store flight cases etc.
A discreet but powerful quality PA system is provided for the vocal and instrumental act. It is a 'column' or 'tower' style system and is perfect for audiences of up to around 500 depending on the room. Larger or additional capacity can be arranged for bigger events.
A small lighting bar is provided, which will light up the performer only and does not fill a dance floor or room. Please ask if you would like to arrange hire of a larger lighting set up.
Is there a sound limiter and if so what is the limit set at?
Playlists can be agreed and music can be left on between live sets.
Retro Flashback - Performance times are usually 2 sets of 45 minutes to 1 hr each.
Set up takes approximately an hour and a half depending on the proximity of the loading area to the performance area. Where possible set up should take place to finish well ahead of the room being used by guests.

Instrumental Act - Performance times are usually between 2 hours and 2 hours twenty minutes, split into shorter sets. It is not usually possible to play straight through for over 2 hours, although breaks can be relatively short.
Set up can usually be done within 1 hour, depending on the proximity of the loading area to the performance area.

All of the above is flexible and we understand that every event is different and try to accommodate any difficulties.
Solo trumpet - no set up required, although a space to warm up in is appreciated.
