Emily Burridge is a virtuoso cellist, composer, arranger and performer with thirty years experience performing as a soloist, in ensembles, bands and as a recording artist in studios as a session musician.

Musical background: Her music education included specialist music scholarships to Wells cathedral school and The Royal College of Music London. Emily dispalyed a talent for improvising from a young age and this ability has opened up her career beyond the usual associations of the cello as a classical instrument. Her CV reflects this as her reputation developed as a session musician creating cello lines for stellar artists both in the UK and abroad. Emily the producer & composer; She has produced seven album productions and single releases to her name as well as collaborative albums and being featured on numerous recordings. Her music is also used for film and documentaries. For over ten yeras she has entertained at both private and corporate events providing ambient "mellow cello music" .She goes out with her fabulous blue electric cello and incorporates looping pedals (originally designed for electric guitar) to multi track harmonies and rhythms. As an arranger she creates covers of pop songs and classical repertoire some of which is on general release;"Chasing Cars" cello cover & her arrangement for seven cellos of "Canon" by J. Pachelbel both of which were originally special requests.

Performing for very special events; including weddings and drinks receptions, private house concerts, fashion launches. She has a residency at fine dining restaurant The Clockspire where she accompanies sunday lunch on a monthly basis.

For special events in performing standard classical repertoire she has pre-recorded piano/orchestral accompaniment and through her many concerts also specialises in the unaccompanied suites for cello by JS Bach. offering a choice of Preludes and dance movements from the first three suites.
Through incorporating the looping pedals she multitracks harmonies and rhythms and recreate a variety of pieces which are on general release and are very popular for ambient background cello music mixed with classical repertoire for receptions.

As an arranger she has an array of cello covers of pop songs produced for previous special requests including:

Her cello arrangement of Puccini’s famous operatic aria “Che Gelida Manina” with orchestral accompaniment Her cello arrangement of ."Gabriel's Oboe" with orchestral accompaniment. Her arrangement of John William's soundtrack ;the theme for "Jurrassic Park" A selection of classical repertoire with pre-recorded piano accompaniment including the much loved, “The Swan“ by Saint Saens.

As a producer with many years in the music business she has a pro recording facility on which the arrangements and covers are recorded.
In you wishing for a particular song or soundtrack, in creating an arrangement as a special request it is an additional cost to a performance fee. Emily loves making wishes come true! She researches the work involved and then gives a quote.

For special events she provides her own amplification and generally performs for special events with her stunning blue electric cello featured in her profile photos.

Concerts & Festivals Current programs 2026 Emily currently has a solo program which includes music from her album releases "At the turning of the World" and "Out of the Blue" , her arrangements of lullabys from war torn areas of the world and on occasions the integration of Bach and her classical arrangements.

A duo with the world class drummer and multi instrumentalist Martyn Barker performing music from their album release "Water & Stone" (released on the Lift Music label") and new compositions. Their music is available on streaming platforms and is used for documentaries, adverts and soundtracks.

Outreach work Emily also performs in hospitals in the West country UK contracted by Artcare at Salisbury hospital. She uses a simplified outfit but always with her blue electric cello, one looping pedal and a small amp.

Working with narration current (2025 onwards) performance productions:

"The Pan Liturgy" with poet Julia Desch FRSA. Emily was commissioned to create a soundscape featuring recording made in the natural landscape and compose a cello score. Emily performs this production using the looping pedals to realise a harmonious accompaniment in a live setting.

"Seiners & Quarry Paths" an arts council funded multimedia production with author Sarah Acton

Previous experience with narration. includes creating a score to accompany the actress Virginnia Mckenna read "Sacred Elephant" by Heathcote Williams, "Dawta" a one woman play by Bristol playwrite Dionne Draper. "Kaspar Hauser" was Emily's first experience of creating a cello score to accompany a play was with students from Durham Uni with a run at the Edinburgh festival.
