Review Centre: Bagpipers

"Colin was just magnificent at our wedding on Saturday. First of all he saved us last minute as our bagpiper cancelled two weeks before the wedding. Our day was a very intimate church wedding and we asked Colin to play Highland Cathedral as we exited the church as it meant a lot to my husband (reminding him of his grandfather who is no longer with us). The vicar made a last minute decision with us to take the wedding party to my mother's grave while Colin was playing. He made that moment so special for us both and for the family and then he managed to uplift everyone's spirits afterwards with his clever choice of songs to follow (including the yellow submarine). It wouldn't have been the same without Colin and his pipes! Thank you so much. "

"An inspired and inspiring choice for my daughter’s wedding reception in the beautiful and thankfully sunny Surrey countryside. Highest possible marks and largest thanks to Julia for her support, timeliness but above all for her immaculate and moving piping. Our guests were thoroughly spoilt and many too were visibly moved. "We couldn't believe we found Simon right on our doorstep in Herefordshire. My father was reluctant to have bagpipes at our wedding after hearing them being played really badly at a market in Leominster just before Christmas a couple of years ago but after watching and listening to Simon we were made up. He is a gem. He came to our house before our wedding to discuss the tunes we wanted and he bought his pipes to play for us. Amazing. "

"Amazing amazing amazing! Billy played for our Harringworth, playing as we and our guests came out of the church and then escorted everyone to the drinks reception. EVERYBODY commented on how special the pipes were, and loved the nod to the family’s heritage. Billy’s communication was spot on throughout the whole process, and I genuinely feel like I’ve gained a friend. Super talented in what he does, wish we could do it all again. Would recommend time and time again. Thank you so much Billy!! "

"I hired Spud to pipe open my Tavern. He flew over to Virginia in March but unfortunately we weren’t ready to open. Instead of sitting in his cabin enjoying his holiday, he chose to pipe for me at our local churches and schools. My community benefited from my poor planning! I have to say my family benefited too. There’s nothing like hearing the bagpipes coming from your cabin, surrounded by the mountains, it was beautiful. I hope he’ll make it back to Virginia soon!"

"If you are looking for an exceptional bagpipe player (and one that also looks the part) then look no further than James Meiklejohn. James is a true gentleman and was a pleasure to have at our Cotswolds wedding. From our very first conversation I knew we were in safe hands and James and his bagpipes made our big day all that more special. Nothing was too much trouble and everything James said he would do, he did, going above and beyond our expectations. The bagpipes were a surprise for our wedding party including my wife. As we walked out of the church ceremony, we were greeted by James who had positioned himself perfectly in the church grounds, playing Flower of Scotland. It was perfect! "James came and played the pipes for our 80th anniversary commemorations of D-Day this year (2024). He arrived early to find out more about the event and walk through his role. He was a pleasure to work with; utterly professional; and his piping was second to none. We receive very many appreciative comments about the music he played and how he understood the poignancy of the occasion and played different sorts of music for different aspects of the commemoration. I highly recommend James. A delight to work with. We have booked him for our annual Arnhem Service in September when we shall be marking the 80th Anniversary of Operation Market Garden."
