Review Centre: Covers Bands

"In December 2013 we went to see local band Licksquid at the Poet and Castle in Codnor,Derbyshire. We had previously seen them on just a couple of occasions and had really enjoyed their performance. During this evening I enquired if they were available to play at our daughters 21st birthday party in September 2014. Luckily they were available and I booked Licksquid that same evening. During the months which followed, my hubby and myself watched the band at various venues and loved every minute of each performance. We genuinely felt that each time was even better than the previous ones and we were really pleased we had them booked in for Chloe's party. When the date finally came around they went down a storm. They filled the dancefloor and created an amazing atmosphere with their fabulous playlist which covers a fair few decades. One thing that really shone through for me was their lovely banter with each other. It made the evening and our friends and family had a brilliant time. All three of them created an atmosphere which I can only describe as buzzing. It all went without a hitch. Well done lads. You are all a credit to yourselves and each other. We will always remember Chloe's 21st with fondness."

"We had the pleasure of The Marvellous Motown Souls perform for our charity fundraiser event last weekend. I can only use the words professional and amazing to describe the band. I have booked bands before that simply turn up and play, but Liz gives so much more than expected prior to the event. We met for coffee and she brought a sheet that covers everything you could think of in order to make the event run smoothly. This included working out the custom setlist to ideas for the band raising money on the evening. The band did a bid for joining the musicians as their 7th member playing percussion, this worked a treat and raised an extra £200. You can tell the members are all friends and love what they do. Fun, energetic and they make guests feel at ease. I should mention that Max provided DJ for when the band was not playing which was also brilliant, but the band performance was the highlight of everyone evening. I will be booking Liz and the band next year and I can't recommend enough for any event. They will adapt to perfection. Thank you again Liz. Rich"

On the day of the wedding, they were punctual, friendly, and organized. The setlists were perfectly curated, and the transitions between songs were seamless. Our guests are still talking about how incredible the music was!"

"What a brilliant group! We have always had great parties with live music and having looked at ‘The Mystery Machine’ links on this site, we had discussions with them about our party theme, their set & play lists, our preferences, the venue, etc. They were really professional and helpful from the outset & we had no reservations in booking them without having heard them play live. They set up in plenty of time, checked timings & duration for each set, etc. with us & were just brilliant from start to finish. We danced non-stop & everyone commenting upon how fantastic they were & asking us where we had come across them. The transition from live to their background music between sets was seamless. Above all, they have real stage presence – great range, strong vocals, tight playing & energy. They helped make our party so much fun & we cannot recommend them highly enough – they exceeded our every expectation & we are still buzzing weeks later!!! Lyn & Roger "

"These guys played at our wedding reception in July. We cannot thank them enough as they were absolutely fantastic. All of our guests commented on how good they were, and how much they enjoyed dancing and partying the night away when they played. Would highly recommend them. "
