"Chris has just repaired a 50-year old AKG D12 microphone for me. He told me all the (very reasonable) costs up front, didn't charge a penny more when it turned out to be a more complex job than he'd quoted for, explained exactly what was wrong with it (with photographs), gave me tips on how to better care for it in the future, and even provided a before and after frequency response chart so I could see what was going on. I couldn't be more pleased. And to top it all off, what a lovely bloke. Couldn't recommend him more. Cheers again mate. Simon"

"We recently got hitched in the UK and a few of the attending guests and I play in band(s) together. We thought it would be nice to extend the wedding weekend and have a day of live music the day after the wedding. As most of the band live and work overseas, transporting our own PA equipment wasn't feasible so we looked into hiring some gear for the day. Grimshaw Audio was recommended by a friend who works in the music business so I contacted Chris through the website and he quickly replied to confirm he was available and offered some great advice on the equipment we required. He also offered to set up and manage all the technical stuff throughout the day so we didn't need to worry about levels, settings etc. The price seemed very reasonable so we progressed with the booking. Following a phone conversation to firm up the details, it was clear that Chris is extremely knowledgeable about about his work and service; Grimshaw Audio was obviously a passionate hobby as well as a professional business. We were scheduled to start the first set at around 3:00pm on the Sunday; Chris and his colleague arrived at 10:00am to set up! The kit they work with is amazing. The speakers are hand crafted by Chris so he literally knows them inside out. Backed up by a remote tablet mixer, he can stroll the venue and and adjust the levels accordingly via a Bluetooth connection (I guess?). We're an amateur band so having a sound engineer and a quality PA set up was a real novelty for us; despite all our rusty mistakes we've never sounded so clear and bright (in our opinion). All the vocals and instruments, (percussion, bass, keys, guitar) were fed through the same PA so Chris was also able to provide us with a full recording on a USB stick. All in all, I can't recommend this guy enough. A young business with a bright future for sure. I just wish he lived in the Middle East so we could hire him for every gig! "

"I booked Darren for a 50th birthday party. It was a brilliant night, there were a mix of age groups so Darren played a great variety of songs from old to present day and he was happy to take any requests also. The quality of the sound was excellent and great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend."

"We hired some sound and lighting equipment for our wedding reception a few weeks ago and couldn't recommend Chris or the team highly enough. With a very vague outline of what we were after Chris guided us through the lighting options and managed to help us to exceed the effect we were originally after. They made sure we had everything else we required to make sure the day went off without a hitch - it is fair to say that Chris' experience in this field is un-surpassed and didn't leave a stone un-turned - thank you! p.s. prices were extremely competitive too!"

"This was my first time using Chris and it was for a musical theatre production of 'Godspell' at the Hasland Theatre. Chris came recommended by a friend of mine (Adam Parrish) after he did the sound engineering for a concert Adam had recently done with Gordon Giltrap. Well what can I say - Chris did an amazing job! He came along for a preliminary meeting with me where we looked around the venue, talked about the requirements for the show which included a live 4 piece band and 10 wireless headset radio mics. Chris then gave a full explanation of what equipment he thought was required to make a great sound within the venue, how much time he would have to dedicate to the project and from that came up with a quote for us. We confirmed it all over email and then it was just a matter of waiting for show week to roll around. This came at the end of March and Chris arrived with all the equipment he needed and got set up ready to go. It was great that the equipment he had was all digital and took up a very small amount of space and that he was able to control it all from his iPad at the back of the theatre, since there was literally no room for him to be anywhere else. Several of the band members commented on how great it was that Chris asked them before every show about their individual monitor mixes, if anything needed changing, if Chris needed to be aware of any issues from previous nights etc and are still talking about it now as something like that which seems really obvious and simple makes a huge difference to those playing and performing. Nothing was too much trouble for Chris even when I had to ask for some additional monitors to be placed on the stage as the actors were struggling to hear the musicians he just turned up with speaker stands and monitors and got them plugged in and ready for the following nights performance. Amazing! It is also important to note Chris's attitude throughout the entire process. Putting on a musical is an exceedingly stressful thing to do and I was having to think about a lot of things throughout the run, but Chris remained calm, level-headed and had a very calming presence which was commented on by several cast members and others within the creative team, which is just what you want in a high stress environment. He was great to work with and lots of laughs were had throughout the week amongst the whole team who he worked well with. A very quick and speedy break down and get out on the Saturday night wrapped everything up nicely. Thanks so much for the time and effort you put into making our show sound amazing and we really cannot wait to be working with you again hopefully in the very near future."

"I simply could not recommend Core Event Hire enough. Chris and his team are professional, experienced and do everything at a competitive rate (they even chucked a few things in for free!) My only regret is not using them more on the project I was organising - couldn't be happier."

"We had our Wheatley Rugby Club Summer Ball at the weekend and Chris organised the disco lighting and the marquee lighting for us. I had a vague idea about fairy lights which he designed for us and he and his team came and set up for us. I left it entirely to him as we had used his company before and knew we could rely on him. The effects were brilliant - I was soooo pleased! He took down the lighting and took it all away on Sunday morning as promised. We were very impressed with his service, and at a very reasonable cost. We will certainly be using Chris again! Many thanks."
