Review Centre: Bands & Ensembles

"The setting for our August 2018 wedding was the beautiful Arnos Vale’s Woodland Undercroft. There was a “Gothic Lite” theme to this largely (we had a marquee!) outdoor event which we wanted to be as informal as possible. It was important to us that everybody who was attending or contributing to the event felt that they were able to participate in the occasion as guests. For this reason we wanted musicians who we felt would “fit in” the with guests as well as playing the type of music that we wanted . Having trawled through various websites we discovered the “Hot Hats” and, having played their version of “Friday I’m In Love”, knew that we didn’t need to look any further. The sound was great and the image of the band was just what we wanted. Having then seen the band play a couple of times, it was clear that the personalities and sound was just what we wanted. As there was no particular running order for our afternoon reception, our brief to the band was, basically, “play when you think you need to” and this worked a treat. In addition we were played down the aisle to the band playing “I’m A Believer” which was a really special moment for us. There was good communication at the point of booking which was a painless process and continued contact with Alfie and his agent made arranging the event so much easier. We loved the band and the guests loved them as well. We would therefore have no hesitation in recommending the “Hot Hats” for your event. Martin & Nikki P.S. If there was a downside to our afternoon it was that Alfie (despite his best efforts) was unable to teach the bride to properly strum a guitar but, in the overall scheme of things, we’ll let that pass!"

"I would give ten stars out of five if I could! Gospel & Soul Choir surprised our guests at our wedding reception on Sat 15th Sept. They were not only incredible singers, but also lit the room up with their smiles and infectious love for music. I organised this with Gail at Gospel & Soul Choir and she was professional from beginning to end, and also willing to incorporate my ideas and gave great advice throughout. Absolutely wonderful choir, don’t miss out!!!"

"Countryman Sam was absolutely amazing, he put together a set list that was perfect. We had not given him much direction but he hit the nail on the head. He was very relaxed and down to earth, our timings for the day had been slightly delayed but he accommodated it and didn’t let it take away from what he delivered. If you’re looking for a country artist for an event then we would highly recommend booking Sam!"

"Back on Track performed at my fathers 80th birthday in December 2018. Fabulous guitarists and singers. Excellent time keeping, professional, organized and well presented. The whole family from 8mths to 80 were singing along to old classics and newer current songs. Vast array of songs sung. Talented singers, wonderful for all types of parties or functions. Background music or front of house act! 5 ***** would use them again any day!"

"We chose Souls to play at our wedding 2 weeks ago after seeing them at a wedding fair and a public gig. It was literally the best (and easiest) choice to make. Katy was brilliant as a point of contact and the whole band were able to make a half acoustic half original version of our first dance song and we loved it! Our whole wedding party were raving about them after and are planning to see them at a gig again. My husband and the majority of his friends are musicians and we’re all in agreement that Souls were brilliant! Thank you so much."

"My daughter’s wedding was made even more special by Out Of The Blue. They acted the part so well even doing the washing up which I thought went beyond the call of duty. They were excellent and certainly gave the wedding celebrations an eventful start. The performance was top notch filling the dance floor even before we had done the speeches, it was always going to be a great evening after that. I think that all my guests commented on how good they were. My thanks to both of them and I hope to catch one of their performances in the future. Big John says thank you as well. "

"Sara is a regular feature in our French bar. She always creates a great atmosphere & engagement with the audience. When Sara is singing, we always get other musicians popping in to have a play. She’s a favourite, not only with us & our clientele but obviously also with her colleagues. I can’t praise her enough!"

"We enjoyed such an incredible night with this band - super high energy , great atmosphere and extremely talented musicians! They really know how to get the crowd going and played everyone’s favourite 80s songs. The dance floor was always full ! We’d definitely recommend the 80s Live Band for any party!"
